wow, thanks a bunch! I will try that. It’s still a little frustrating that premiere works best with DV-AVI. Ive edited a dozen projects using all sorts of different codecs together and sometimes its just dandy and happy and sometimes it has weird complications but its always fixable (unlike this green blobs problem) However, Ive only previously used premiere 6.5 to edit stuff. Do you know anything about the difference between premiere 6.5 and premiere pro when it comes to codecs? I have a sneaking suspicion that I might not have these problems using premiere 6.5. (However Ive already edited half the movie so I don’t think I could switch over at this point) -_-

another problem im having using pro.. i preview the files to see the transitions and fades more clearly and have it run smoother, but it actually runs SLOWER! ARGH

Anyway, I will try exporting the files as DV-AVI and Ill post if it works out. Thank you!

well getting the original dv footage is not an option. I am making a montage using footage from a TV show which are .AVI files. Wait.. is it a problem that that they are AVI files but were encoded with mpeg4? Actually I have had more problem with premiere in the past handling AVI files encoded with divX (premiere would just crash). Usually converting those files to .mpeg fixed the problem. But this is a new problem.

is there a codec that I can recompress my avi files with that wouldn’t make premiere go wonky?(i was forced to do this because the audio rate was unstandard and premiere wouldn’t allow it to be imported, so i used virtualdub to recompress them and just deleted the audio entirely) Is there also a reason why it looks fine in preview but not when played back from the timeline? (leading me to believe its a settings problem)
