Sorry about the confusion David. I’ve been trying to deal with this issue for 10 days and I’m in worse shape now than when I started.

I have 4 jobs I’ve edited and can’t get on to regular dvd’s because I am unable to get them out of FCP. Agitated would be an understatement!!

Sorry about the double post, but I wasn’t sure if this was a FCP issue or Martox issue.

What do you mean every version of FCP? When I purchased it I got FCP 5 and I’ve upgraded every version to where I am now.

I also shoot with the Canon 5D MKII and need QT 7 in order to do time lapses (QT 10 doesn’t do that).

I use QT 10 for my HD movies to send out.

Trash all Prefs. or specific Prefs?

Yes, a 17′ Mac Book Pro

Bring the files in using a compact flash cards on a usb card reader as Apple Pro Res 422.

For the most part I want to shoot, edit and export HD and downconvert in dvd studio to burn standard dvd’s.

No, I can’t export a quicktime movie, that’s the problem.

    MOVIE SETTINGS:
    Compression: Matrox Max H.264
    Quality: Medium
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Bitrate: 6400 kbits/sec
    Compress using the CAVLC algorythm
    De-Interlace video data before compressing
    IDC level 4.1
    Dimensions: 1440X1080 (1888×1062)

==I tested this with another wedding and it worked fine.

==I also sent a small piece (3 minutes) of this problem video and it worked fine.

==Also, I exported this problem video as a Quicktime movie and it worked fine (huge file 17GB), I just need to De-interlace because the video is choppy without that option.

==Can I create settings in Compressor that will allow for de-interlacing that is effective?

After some testing it looks like it’s the Drobo drive. I’ll call them Tuesday and hope they can help me.

    Thanks

What about compressing down converted video from FCP 7 to DVD Studio Pro. Will just the regular export settings do?

    Hey Walter,

HD is completely new for me so I’m importing via compact flash cards without making any adjustments in FCP. All I did was download the Sony program that allows for import. What section would I import for Pro Res and what settings would you suggest?

If you check out my Blog https://milestonevideo.blogspot.com/

you can view something I did last night. I could only go down to 80% and it still looks jittery. I’m actually installing FCP 7 upgrade because I was told it handles slow mo better. I like to go to 60% sometimes.

Here’s the big issue, I shoot the reception at a shutter of a 30th and sometimes play with a 15th. If I slow that down I can’t even imagine what will happen. I like slow mo, want to put HD videos on my site and provide client with dvd’s that are not HD but SD downconverts. I feel confused about the whole thing.

    Thanks,
    Ed
