Thanks for the reply. SOunds like you have the same problem.
If I update my mac to an intel chip and update FCP I understand that there is a simple Blu-Ray authoring in FCP?
Do you know anything about that? and what kind of menus are possible?

Hi John,
I have both FCP 6 on a quad G5 and Vegas and DVD architect.
My program is full HDcam 8 bit uncompressed on FCP.
I am trying to figure out how to render it to a codec that Vegas or DVDA can work with to burn a Blu-Ray disc.
Some quicktime settings wont even show my video in Vegas.
Others do but are huge files…
I tried to use the HD DVD setting in compressor and it ended up
giving me an error when I got it to DVDA.
I have been taking most attempts into vegas first and rendering as a Blu-Ray mpeg2 Then bringing into DVDA.
So far either they dont work or the quality is artifacty. What would you suggest?

Good question. I dont think I have done this in Vegas.
IN FCP there is a easy way to do this.If they are using FCP I would just give them the HDV file clip rendered in Vegas on a Hard Drive and let them do all the transcoding for HDCAM.

I have HD files on FCP 6. My mac is a quad G5 which means I cant even get the limited Blu-ray functionality if I buy the FCP upgrade.
I have Vegas 8.5 and DVD Architect which has Blu-Ray authoring.
I am fighting with finding a codec I can encode to so I can bring into Vegas to render for Blu-Ray Authoring.ANyone have any experience on this? Some Quicktime files dont even allow you to see the video in Vegas on my machine (XP)
My FCP files are 8 bit HDCAM files. Was trying to find a way to export in FCP as something manageable size that Vegas could work with.
My program is 47 minutes long.SOme have mentioned Toast for the mac but I dont know the workflow on that and it would probably mean not being able to use DVD Architect for authoring.

I was told by them that Class 4 worked fine. I do not do any overclocking. Just straight HD HQ and HDV recording on my EX1.

This is not at all what I get from Ross or ALex. In a recent email they have told me that the Sandisk are no longer a good choice and suggest I buy Transcend. So I don’t get it. They are sending confusing messages.

TUrns out that the reason for corrupt files was a bad SxS SDHC card adapter that I got from MxM. THey are replacing it.
THanks for the info on Shot Put

I have been dragging Bpav files for two years without problem till recently…
Since I am stuck on a quad G5 I do not believe the clip browser will work. If I remember when I tried to install it said it was not compatible with that computer. My work flow has been to copy the BPAV to hard drive then use XDcAM file transfer utility to render to .mov files. So on the hard drive I have both versions of my shoot.
If you have other suggestions of a better way given that I can not use clip browser please let me know. This has worked well till recently.I use the MXr adapter for using SDHC 16gig memory cards in my EX1.
The last three shoots – I get home and I get a message that it needs to be restored. I restore and it says failed to restore. So I take the SDHC card out and copy the contents of the BPAV files over to the hard drive. Somewhere in the middle it stops. So I go in and see where it stopped and continue. This has worked but I loose one corruped clip.
At first I thought I just had a bad SDHC card. But now its happening on other cards. Starting to wonder if my camera is at fault.
My next test is to do it with the original SOny SxS cards and see if the problem is still there. If you have any other thoughts I would love to hear them.

In order for the analog SDI to come out of the EX1 bnc connecter you have to have ilink disabled. THis is Version 1.11.
I dont know if that changes for newer firmware. You have to have Component enabled and ilink disabled.
