    Right-click on any clip and click on Unlink in the pop-up screen. The linked clips will be freed.

    …I’m pretty sure the unlinked audio clips are still confined to the frame marks. I know Vegas edits accurately down to fractions of a frame, but I don’t think Premiere does actually.
