I agree with Nathan. Double clicking on that item in the project window, should re-open the timeline in the sequence window.

I know you have no active sequence showing, but is the sequence listed among the source files in the project window?

I’m curious what would happen if a video file captured from one of the “working” computers was copied and pasted to one of the troubled units.
If that footage also becomes affected after importing, it might point to a drive or timeline issue. If it stays clean with no rendering required, it might point more directly to something in the capture process.

Are you sure that the sequence setting selections are all uniform? If the footage needs to be rendered, my first thought was that the sequence settings do not match the original footage.
