Thanks. The main problem seems to be establishing some anchor points. I’m going to try my best with just Pr.

OK. Solved. I feel like I either missed it or it didn’t work when I tried it yesterday, but obviously, choosing H.264 format brought up the familiar options.

  • Do you know of any other mirrorless cameras that have unlimited video recording time?
    Thank you.

  • Thank you.
That looks like a terrific camera. It has been discontinued, so I would have to check around. I’m a little nervous about buying something like that on Ebay and trying to have it shipped to Japan. Panasonic (and Sony) do not sell cameras with English in Japan. My friend is in England for a trip at the moment and he could buy one there for me, but I think that would be dependent on if he can get it tax free.

Do you happen to know if the screen tilts 180º? That is a must for me.

    Thank you Chris,

By door mask do you mean chroma key? I’ve been trying to figure out what you meant by mask, but my mind is caught in: what is needed is a reverse mask, that is, the reverse of a garbage matte. I might be conflating the terms. However, I had an insight today, and maybe this is what you meant, and that is to fill the door with a color and use chroma key. It seems to work well. The only thing is I wish there were some guide lines I could temporarily lay down to line up the photos. I took several shots of someone walking down the road from behind. I want to line them up so the road looks the same through the open doorway while I adjust the scales and tweak the positions. It would be really nice if there were a ruler or I could pull down a temporary guideline so that I had a reference point. Now I have to keep moving the cursor over each picture to compare them.

Speaking of nesting. This was new to me, but it came in very handy as I have a whole bunch of cuts of a guitar player in front of a blue background making up a track. Instead of applying chroma key to each and every clip, I thought I could nest the sequence and apply it to all. It basically works.

    Many, many thanks,

September 30, 2012 at 5:35 am in reply to: How do you rename an event?

I was having the same difficulty: could not get it to rename even though I turned off background tasks, hit enter, clicked twice with a beat etc. I tried renaming in the Finder and that was a big no no. It immediately created a folder with my old name and then I couldn’t revert the name of the original back. What worked for me was quitting, getting rid of the new folder in the Finder, reverting back to my original folder name, and then reopening Final Cut Pro X. Then the renaming worked as described. So, definitely don’t rename in the Finder. Quit and restart FCPx if nothing else works.

Well, restarting the computer seemed to solve the issue. I had restarted FCP, but that wasn’t enough.
    Thank you.

I couldn’t see the previous post when I replied. I should be safe as none of my images comes close to 4000 on one side. So I’m still stymied.
    TIA

I may be having the same problem. When I try to export or render, I get a General Error message. However, this may have something to do with me working off of a new disk. I managed to clone everything from my video backup (sic) to my new 2 TB disk called Video which I intend to use as my main video disk. At first I couldn’t save, then I opened Get Info and checked “Ignore ownership on this volume” and was able to save. But, I cannot export or render. I tried restarting FCP.

I have 27 tiff images I scanned. 4K is really small. Did I read that right? Several are in the 2000 x 1200 frame size range. How would I reduce these easily? I was able to render on the old drive. It seems this must have something to do with cloning that data to my new drive.
    Thank you in advance,
