No, do not try to move it.

I repeat: Does any software on your computer recognise the deck? For example, try Windows Movie Maker.

No, that is abnormal unless you are doing some serious processing like advanced color correction or the like. Your choice of codec and compression settings can greatly affect encoding times, but I don’t think to that extent.
