    David,

I’m not concerned with hand-syncing audio; I’ve been doing that on both film and electronic for over two decades. I’m concerned with wasting a lot of hard drive space by capturing new audio without first deleting the old useless files. That’s why I said I was thinking of capturing audio to a separate folder and then forgetting the media. Your first response implied that I could somehow “recapture” the audio from a DAT. Since I’m dealing with a different tape in a different format with different timecode, I wouldn’t call that recapturing, but capturing for the first time; hence my response regarding batch capturing.

To clarify: my question was about media management, not procedure.

    Hi David,

Thanks for your response. This sounds good in theory, but the timecode from the mini-DV doesn’t match the timecode from the DAT, so I can’t just batch capture and replace audio.

At this point I’m thinking to just continue logging without capturing until the producer decides about the DAT tapes.

    Daniel
