How’s this? This is what I would consider just color correction, no grading.

OK, that brings up another point that has always bothered me. When you say underexposed are you looking at it from the viewpoint of a color corrected image without taking into consideration that I color graded it too look “late in the day”?
That’s always driven me nuts. I’ll put up a graded shot and people will say it’s too dark or too this or that, then I’ll see another video that looks absolutely terrible regardless of what the person was going for, super crushed blacks or greenish tint, etc., and it gets praised to high heaven.

Thanks! Actually I was messing around with one shot, got it looking nice, and then added either the M31 or the V6 LUT and got an amazing color tone, a bit blue but I cut down that node’s effect in the keying panel. That’s what I made the LUT from. I actually applied it to those two videos with minimal tweaking (depending on how bright it was at the time I shot the video). And that’s it. I won’t pretend to be a grading genius. It was pure luck.

Hey Chris!
I really don’t know the difference as far as what a technical LUT does compared to a creative LUT. All I know is I started off with a V Log file, I did some tweaking and came up with what, to me, is the perfect grade on footage shot on overcast days. I created a LUT for Resolve from that, and it works perfectly every time I place it on similar footage.Today I converted it to a .vlt file and uploaded it to my camera and it looks great. My other LUT made my skin look too red/purplish, although as you know it doesn’t actually affect the footage.
