    Alex,

I was just going to update this post. That was exactly it. I was working out of the media browser rather than the project bin.
Though I am still not clear why that project bin was not opening- but now it is and all is much easier! One might think it obvious, but not after decades on an avid! Finally, I feel like I can just edit.
Many thanks for sticking with the problem!

  • Thanks Duke,

I agree. I believe I must be experiencing bugs.
It makes it a bit challenging to learn, as I don’t yet know enough to realize when that is actually the case.
    I appreciate your insight.

  • Thanks Alex,

When I right click on a sequence, the only option is to load into Source- But if I simply click on the sequence, it also loads into source. It seems something is wrong- but again, I cant seem to find it. Maybe I am too stuck in an Avid mindset to see it?

  • Thanks Duke,

As an avid editor for many years, everyone says Adobe is easy to learn, which it is- in basic terms,
but I think it is going to take a long time to come close to mastering.
Do you have any ideas on the Source monitor vs Program monitor issue?
Why will some sequences only load into Source-Again- I think it has something to do with my approach- but I can’t seem to figure it out- I had assumed, as with Avid, the default for a sequence is to load into program monitor, but I would have the option to load into source as well- I can’t seem to figure out how this can be accomplished- and sequences more often than not are defaulting to source.

  • Thanks Alex,

Either I am missing something obvious, or the system is being glitchy. I am a seasoned Avid editor,
but I just can’t find where I can control where the sequence loads. I am just double clicking on the sequence, which is
in a bin, to load it. I have spent significant time with tutorials. and should mention I am quite technical.

I have already created the sequences, I have been working with them in the program monitor already. I have been able to cut them as multi-cam. But now, for reasons I can not figure out, they will not load into program monitor, only the source monitor- but they still show the sequence clips in the timeline-
Some sequences will still load into the program monitor and some wont-Again- these are not clips but edited sequences

I am assuming this may be obvious to the veteran Premiere user-
but I can’t seem to find te trick-
    I really appreciate the assist.

  • Thanks Dave,
The issue is, when I load a sequence, it loads to the source window rather than the program window, while
    the timeline displays the sequence.

  • Raul,

Did you ever figure this out?
I have the same error occurring.
I am just trying to run script Sync as a trial for now, bur regardless.
The fact that I am now going to have to pay 1000 dollars and waste time messing with something that used to work just fine and for free is a bit irritating.
This system is 7.2 Imac 2.7 and avid MC 5.53

I appreciate any insight you may have.

    Thanks,

    Doug

February 20, 2012 at 6:32 pm in reply to: XD CAM HD Proxy Workflow

    Sorry to repost on this,

I have tamed all but one thing in this HD Can HD workflow.
We have created media using Bob Russos excellent workflow using AMA to consolidate to the mpeg proxies and full res audio. We have trimmed up all cameras from a master sequence of all three cameras made with auto sequence.

My problem is that the multiclips wont play out of the source window, they give the error ADM_DIO_ERROR OCCURRED, DIOerr:PMDIOVideoOutOffStream::Enqueue Frame – Length not valid, max frame size 777600, length 1036800.

The multiclips play great in Multicamera mode, but we cant play them out as source.
We have tried to get this to work on many machineswith no success and the same error message.
Has anyone seen this? We have tried everything

We are working Mac Pro Avid versions 5.03 and 5.5

I appreciate any insights anyone has into this.

    Many Thanks,

    Doug

More on the XD Cam HD front.
Many thanks for the ingest help on XD Cam discs
    Works like a charm
Next up is our group clip workflow. I had initially been transcoding to 10M resolution but new workflow creates
Mpeg clips on consolidate linked to low res proxie media.. Are there any limitations regarding group clips in this format that anyone is aware of?

I am trying to group 3 cameras across many hours of shooting for a weeks shoot. I copied all cameras clips into a bin, sorted by TC, and lasso an hour or two of clips
Then group command based on TC

My success has been limited, and the clips are inconsistently playing as quad splits

Am I completely off base with this workflow?
Again, I appreciate any insights on this

    Tom

Have you tried loading via AMA the clips on a disc
into One bin and then selecting all clips, then put your sequence in another bin and highlite.
Then use relink command set to AMA and relink to selected clips? I have had success with this iny many recent workflow tests, but in 5.5 not 6.0
