Thanks for the feedback Floh, I agree it can be put on USB drives no problem. Is the output option- ProRes the best bang for the buck? It’s not recompressed should I output to that option is it?

Thanks Dave for your reply. I’ve done a collect files and archived two language versions which spans 26 BluRay’s for 680GB each. I’m trying to output a final version to a format that is more accessible both for drive space and ensure another backup.

I guess most people collect files and archive as a final but to bring it online with other projects dedicates nearly 1400GB of drive space should I simply need to simply encode to another format for streaming etc.

    Maybe others just do that?

Thanks Craig, yes streaming from a CDN. I think the Handbrake solution was suggested as a one file fits all but I wasn’t sure how targeted it would be. I know I could export multiple flavors and the website could detect the device and stream the appropriate versions. We’re trying to encode for computer and mobile devices.

I’ll look at Episode more seriously, it’s nice that it imports ProRes for HD titles without having to go to an intermediate (like would be required with Handbrake) and would likely streamline the process. Any other input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time!

Okay, so I’ve exported a ProRes422 file chapter by chapter and archived to BluRay using the Export command by program –> ProRes422 (leaving all other settings) with standard 2 ch 48khz 16 audio settings for Computer (0-255) color space.

Any problems anyone sees with this for a tapeless workflow archive?

does anyone know if the XML format normally includes metadata like markers? Not sure if it’s a M100 not seeing it or FCP output problem.

If anyone is fluent in both and can run any quick test, I would greatly appreciate it.

I had SCSI drives for old versions but cut 60-90 min shows on Fw800 drives with zero issues. GRaid2’s – 4tB drives are $400 or so….
