Thanks Scott. From what everyone is saying, it is the NUMBER of Quicktime events and not the length that can cause problems. I’ve had a few instances where Quicktime files would work perfectly on one computer in Vegas, but not on another computer (both fast computers and both running Vegas 12). Quicktime files coming from my GH3.

Thanks Rus. I’ve read reviews that say ProRes is less compressed than M2T and produces better looking footage coming off the Z1U’s heads via the Firewire, which also lets it record at a higher bitrate than the Z1-U’s 20mbps. That should also improve quality, correct?

Thanks for the response, John. Is MOV OK? I also have a GH3 and it seems to be ok in Vegas but I haven’t done much editing yet. Since Vegas can edit ProRes, would the Atmos be ok? Or is ProRes similar to Quicktime (which you said avoid)? Some reviews say the ProRes is less compressed and produces much better looking video than M2T. That sounded great to me.

    Steve,
Since the project was for small-screen (Youtube) I used the Main Concept mp4 “Great Setup for DV widescreen” since I was using old footage from a PD150.

    Thanks,

  • Thank you, Angelo. That takes care of the desktop. The laptop (a new Toshiba Quosmio) doesn’t have line inputs. I wonder if running the Windows 7 in XP mode would create options for loopthrough recording.

    Thanks,

    Mike,

Just the opposite: my DVD-Architect DVDs open more slowly (at least on first play) than commercial ones. I use Verbatim DVD-R and RW. They take longer to be recognized by the player –at least the first time they are used. Is there a setting I am missing that will make the DVDs easier to “intialize” by players?

    Thanks,

    Don

Thank you. I plan to use Boris after I convert to DV. I was looking for advice from someone who had used the pass-through A/D converter on a Z-1U.

    Thanks,
