Audio Technica AT4073a length: 9.13″ (232mm)
The addition of the K-Tek model K-SM shock mount makes virtually any length shotgun usable without having it appear in the frame because the mount is so high up. If I was smart enough to know how to post a picture here I could show one with my EX set up. But I’d start a new thread, of course. Shock mounts are a long way from the subject of card slot doors (g).

I’m running FCP 6.0.2 with Tiger 10.4.11 on a Mac Pro here and I can use the “Import XDCAM” option just fine. There must be something that’s different between your machine and mine.

Without it the problem gets even worse when using a wide angle adapter. The other advantage is not having any mechanical noise from the camera transmitted through the camera body and into the mic.

I don’t have the EX3 but my EX1 has never had the issues you’re describing and the two cameras should be identical in software and set up. When I turn my camera back on it always remembers the last settings and the date/time never have to be reset. I suspect there’s something amiss with your EX3 and if you can’t solve the issue then my suggestion is to send it in to Sony Repair.
What it sounds like to me is that even though the memory battery is good the power from it is not getting to the camera and allowing it to retain the settings. Something you could look at is to make sure the battery contacts look OK and the battery is contacting them properly. If that checks out then my guess is that there’s a fault between the battery receptacle and the camera.

I think you can right or control-click on one of the clips and choose the “reveal in finder” command from the pop up menu. That should tell you where the master clips are located or where they used to be located.

Also keep in mind that the PHU-60 will not record under/overcrank footage (according to Mr. Martinez) even with the latest firmware upgrade because of the USB 2.0 interface. The reason being is that the data rate is not high enough.
Personally, I wouldn’t consider using the PHU-60 anyway, because all hard drives will eventually fail. For me, solid state memory cards seem to be the most reliable repository for media. A past president of General Motors once said: “Parts left out cost nothing and cause very few service problems.” Still true today.

As I understand it, if you want to overcrank for slow-mo you need to shoot in 720p 30 fps mode, enable S&Q and increase the frame rate to 60 fps. Shooting in 720p 60 is for shooting fast action such as sports, etc. I made this same mistake too at the beginning, thinking that 720p 60 was the correct mode for using the S&Q mode. The result looked awful in a 29.97 timeline.

Apparently you do. The latest version is 1.1. Cameras manufactured and shipped before the second half of August do not have the latest firmware but those shipped after the second half of August do have the latest firmware.
