    Ben,

I have a HPX-170 that I am pulling my hair out trying to bring it into a Macbook Air 2011 version. I am using the SDI out through a Black Magic UltraStudio Mini Recorder > thunderbolt into the laptop.

I have tried every conceivable setting you can imagine and can’t get that camera to show up as a source in WC 5 Pro. Since you have been using the same camera I was hoping you could please share some of the special sauce with me!

    Thanks!

  • Roger,

I’m pretty sure your problem has to do with making the inputs match. I am getting the BM TVS and have been doing a bunch of reading. .. I bet if you match the resolution of your graphics to the same as your camera for 720p, that may fix it. Hth

Steve, The psd file can be dragged and dropped in motion and does keep the transparency. I just need to figure out how to get the middle to be transparent and get the particles just on the outside in the frame.

Steven, Thanks for your quick response! It’s really both things I’m trying to do. I guess it boils down to getting that center part of the frame to have the transparent properties. I imported the frame from Photoshop so initally the transparency is fine. The challenge I’m having is getting the center of the frame to remain transparent when I apply the particle generators so the particles just appear in the frame border and not in the center where the pictures should be showing up.

    Craig,

Thanks for heading me in the right direction. I did do a number of searches and didn’t find any that talked about using the Vixia HF21 with Blackmagic & Wirecast.

I followed everything you mentioned and got everything updated software wise. I only got the video to show up once after I built an administrator account and logged into it. As soon as I tried to do a capture it gave me the warning about dropped frames so I know I have problems with getting the right settings. I’m thinking it may be a good idea to look into an SSD hard drive.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dirk
