thanks for the quick response – time to change my design approach a bit then

Using BCC in other hosts there would be an overlay for the onscreen point picker and so that would act as a better visual reference for where the clone center was within the image. Unfortunately Vegas doesn’t support overlays that way and I agree it’s a bit awkward in this case since the XY point being adjusted is not obvious in the effect output. I just recorded a quick screencap movie with voiceover offering an admittedly unsatisfactory workaround and a suggestion for how we (BorisFX) might provide that functionality in Vegas by adding another choice in the “view” popup menu ;

I did a screencap movie with voiceover (RT around 5 minutes) just now showing it ;
https://www.borisfxresources.com/CreativeCowForum/3DObjectTransformLinkingInAE/3DObjectTransformLinkingInAE.htmlI’m not sure if you’re on BCC8 or BCC7, but the “Match Position Z To Comp” checkbox should appear in BCC7 as well – if not, we may need to get you an update installer.

I think I figured it out – it was using Mid Point Size which was set to something very small so you basically couldn’t see the particles at the midpoint… see screencap movie here ;

I see that part of the Particle System filter UI was somewhat confusing back in that version of RED (the same filter would probably have appeared less confusing in AE at the time) which is how you missed it and why it took me awhile to find it too (it was literally hard to find the midpoint appearance settings)… it’s improved and not so confusing in newer versions (as I show in the screencap movie)

the problem as seen in the movie file is pretty obvious. could you send a Red project setting so I can take a look at that too ? thanks

February 2, 2012 at 12:40 pm in reply to: Resize and reposition Reflection Map / RED 5 / Sony Vegas 11– supported moving video formats are AVI or numbered sequential still graphics (like Tiff or Targa)
– in the BCC7 Lens Flare (which is the version in Red5) it is necessary for the Lens Flare filter to do the compositing with the background (it doesn’t output alpha). The background track defaults to V1 from the host. And yes BCC8 does not have this limitation.
– as far as searching for effects in Vegas I don’t know of a way but I’m not so experienced with Vegas (maybe I just haven’t found it yet)D

February 1, 2012 at 2:37 pm in reply to: Resize and reposition Reflection Map / RED 5 / Sony Vegas 11For scale and position control of the reflection map you could try nesting a 3D Plane (with the desired reflection media as its media)in the reflection map track (while also disabling the orignal media track for the reflection map track itself).
For blurring just behind the extruded text try a blur filter with a PixelChooser matte derived from the extruded track.
See a quick demo of those things here ;

Boris asked me to make a quick screencap movie showing stabilizer in Boris Red to see if that is something that might help achieve this effect ;

I recorded a quick screencapture movie with voiceover showing how I would suggest creating your own title base don that preset ;
