just guessing on this one because its difficult to know exactly what you are looking for.
#1 sounds like you need to set some keyframes on BirthRate, Life and Speed in the Inspector of the Emitter to get the particles to hang there after they hit the destination. If you are really trying to freeze them in space then add a Drag behavior to the cells. That should come close.

As for #2, I’m not sure if this does what you are asking but try the Attach to emitter slider in the Emitter controls in the Inspector. you could also try the paint tool. Paint tool is somewhat of a more controlled particle system.

What file format are you exporting them as?
Does it work if you just save the Motion Project and drop it into the FCP timeline?

    not so easy….
I know of no preference to do this for ALL Groups.
I don’t even know HOW you would do this if you wanted to….
The only similar function i know is Option-Clicking on a Group disclosure triangle opens all Groups and nested layers in that particular Group.
Maybe some setting with you mouse that has option enabled??? Wild guess that one.

You apply the Basic>Motion Path behavior to the camera. In the inspector choose Geometry from the Path shape pop up. Then drag the shape from the layer list into the drop well for the “shape source”

If you are trying to just match the 2d movement of a layer, then you can use the match move behavior. It’s basically a tracker but it works on animations built inside Motion as well.

as for the replacing media; yes you can.
There are a few ways. You can just drag and drop replace directly in the Layer List. Or you can right click over the clip in the canvas, sleect “Reveal Source Media” from the list and in the inspector on the media tab there is a button to “Replace Media”

The Light Stroke brushes have keyframes to animate the color gradient.
Its much easier to modify the timing if you can apply the Write on behavior (under Shape behaviors)
To do this you have to disable the color gradient animation or else you’ll get a Write on of the first frame of the Paint stroke which happens to be transparent.

    Select rhe paint stroke
In the inspector click on the Shape tab and then the Stroke tab.
In the Color over Stroke area, select disable from the pop up menu.
Then you can apply the Write on behavior and change the timing in a much easier way.

Yes, it is the frame number of that clip.
If you are using the behaviors to retime (i.e. Set Speed) then you don’t really need to worry too much about the Timing pane (except to set what type of frame blending you want).
The timeing pane is useful if you want to keyframe the speed change like you do in FCP but editing together multiple retiming behaviors can achieve a lot, quickly and they are a lot easier to modify too.
