You might try the “Event Videographers” Forum here on the COW.

I didn’t see that forum before, so I’ll definitely check that out. My presumption was that high-end users may at least be aware of some bottom-end solutions. Looks like I was mistaken.

    Thanks for your help, anyway.

Well, we have an annual operating budget of $500, which typically suits our needs, but we’re trying to find ways to add some polish to our live presentations. We’re selling some DVDs of work that we’ve done for the last 6 years as a fundraiser of sorts, but $600 is still a big chunk of that.

If an ideal hardware-based solution costs $600, is there not a “good enough” software solution that works for a group of hobbyists who will use it 3-5 times a year at the most?

For what you’re doing you want a “real” character generator (to heck trying to use a stnadard computer for CG stuff, it never works very well).

While I appreciate the insight, every hardware titler I’ve seen is way out of our range, monetarily. That’s why I’m hoping to find a software titler (for my PowerBook G4) that we can key in with the mixer.

    Any suggestions in that direction?
