Steven, thank you for your answers about Holliwood but are you the only “Pro” on this forum? As for what part of “this is normal” i don’t get and you do is this: Taken from Wiki “Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 is capable of editing AVCHD natively, without transcoding, intermediate formats or proxy files. Using a patented technique (SVRT), AVCHD clips can be edited and output losslessly to AVCHD or Blu-ray Disc.” You are so sure that there is a huge loss. How can i address this issue to Vegas Pro developers?
In the meantime i will test Cyberlink PowerDirector 7!

Here is one questionable test i did. I rendered the file 4 times and each additional render didn’t change the quality to worse. In other words, i take the original, render it to m2ts, take what came out and render it again, take this one and render it again and so on 4 times… The quality is the same as the first render. That means that the problem is not compressing 2nd time! What do you think?

So basically i have to put my Sony camcorder to the trash can! There is no way i can edit its .mts files and export them in the same AVCHD format.

Why do i need to export in m2ts? Well i am making a film of 40 mins in length that will be available for download on my site. This film is meant for blu-ray burning with highest quality possible. File size really matters and in m2ts its the smallest. Plus i need this film to be correctly saved with 5.1 surround which i record during my field sound capture. This file needs to beburned to red beam DVD disct in blu-ray format using a free imburn software.

All works perfectly well until i render it, the video outcome is horrible. May be you can give me an advise of an alternative procedure.

But that type quality is unacceptable… How do you render to .m2ts You say you do it often, but that is a very low outcome. Have you watched the video? It looks really bad. The original files are great though. There is no way i will believe it’s impossible to save in .m2ts with a good quality.

I need to render to m2ts.. I wonder if its possible. I will have to decide on purchasing Sony Vegas.. If its not capable to renter AVCHD properly, i will just not need it!

If i encode to .avi the problem diappears but the file size becomes monsterous. I need this video for blu ray burning. Here is what i posted on the same issue at some other forum step by step without missing anything:

“Ok my work flow is like this: I have .MTS files 1080i 24Mbps bitrate on my camcorder.. I take the USB cable and take lets say 1 video from AVCHD folder with .MTS format and load it to Sony Vegas Pro2 (trial) I have the following project settings: HD 1080-60i 29,970fps Audio 5.1 surround. For the test i don’t edit anything but straight render to Sony AVC m2ts 16Mbps or any… All the bitrates and all the project settings have been tried. “

I have a very powerful machine. Processor Intel Core i7 2720QM with up to 3.3Ghz with ram 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz (4 x 4GB). I am editing for blu ray and rendering from original Sony .MTS to m2ts Anything i try gives me really bad tremmor in the closeups, like shifting sideways.
