    Hey Mark,

Just wanted to give an update. Using Catalyst Browser and transcoding worked like a charm. I’m playing it in Vegas and it’s still an MXF file, but it’s working.

I really appreciate your help and saving me some bucks!

    Hey there Mark,

Sorry for the delayed reply. I was still finding time to try what you suggested.

I tried making a proxy in Sony Vegas but had no luck. Now I’m going to try out Catalyst Browse. I’ve just never worked with XAVCI.

And the actor only complained about the water being cold, lol.

I actually have about 6 or 7 other clips that I need to convert, so HOPEFULLY this Catalyst Browse will work. I’ll update you soon!

Thanks again for the conversion too!

4K, hmm, could be, I’m not sure and I’m new to the recent cameras. I’ve been working with a 4 year old camera up until now.

    I’ve got a laptop- i7-4710 2.50GHz
    16 GB
    64-bit OS

Once I convert the files into .MOV or .MPG with one of the free programs (which leave a big watermark in the video), it works fine. But I’ve found many people have problems importing the MXF files into Vegas and the best way is to convert. But again, I only have a few shots and I already returned the camera, so I’d prefer not so spend money on software if someone could help a brother out.

I really appreciate the help guys (sorry for the late reply).

After posting I tried putting a copy of the video on a new layer, then making a blurred mask around the actor’s face and only adjusting the brightness/contrast of that area. If that doesn’t look good in the final export I’ll try your method Mike. Thanks~
