Morten Ranmar This is a sad decision, as I do not like the way Adobe hides away everything in menus that look completely alike, and generally takes too many mouse clicks to work with.
You won’t be so sad when you see the next version. They went to great lengths to make the workflow more efficient and there are many significant things that either require less clicking, or can now have a keyboard shortcut, or now work the way you would expect them to. Retooled.net has a lot of good videos about the changes that have been made.

[David McGavran] Hope you enjoyed the demo and discussion. I had a great time showing you guys what we have been up to.
Hi David! Yes, I really enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for taking the time to come and show it to us. I can’t wait to try out the new version!

[Kevin Monahan] Hope the meeting was a great success!
It was! David seems like a great guy, and I gotta say, he and his team did an INCREDIBLE job with the new Premiere. Incredible. This thing makes CS6 look like it came out 2 upgrade cycles ago. Watching short videos about each new feature individually doesn’t do it justice- when you see someone actually using them in succession you really get a sense of just how much more efficient the workflow really is- and how much better the program as a whole has gotten. Premiere pro is in a whole new realm now.

I’ll be sure and post something when I get back.

Well, of course I can’t say for sure, but I can’t Imagine Adobe would let an entire upgrade cycle go by WITHOUT improving on the Mercury Engine… 🙂

[Dennis Radeke] Dave along with Al Mooney (product manager) form the rudder that steers the Premiere Pro ship.
Ahh, ok- Now it makes sense. I’ve seen Al Mooney mentioned here, but wasn’t sure what he did. I thought he might have been someone outside the Premiere team.

April 17, 2013 at 10:45 pm in reply to: **Danger Will Robinson** **Danger Will Robinson**[Steve Connor] Which is why it’s relevant for users to express their opinions about this possibility, Adobe clearly listens so if they are considering this then a groundswell of opinion might actually stop it happening.
Yeah, companies might very well change their mind on a big decision if they know it’s not very popular with the end users. Like that time Avid decided they were going to leave the Mac platform and go Windows-only. I don’t remember it first hand but from what I hear it caused quite a stir- and Avid ended up “backpedaling all the way to Tewksbury”, as one account I saw of the situation put it…

[David Powell] Just curious if the changes were radical enough that I should just wait until 7
A lot of the changes aren’t really “radical”, but they are things that will save time and lead to a better experience overall. Some of them seemed insignificant to me at first, but after giving them more thought I started to wish I had them now. Like adjusting the audio level of a clip with the keyboard- I liked this idea when I first read about it, but didn’t see it as a “must have” item until I realized that it was going to save me from making a trip over to the track header to expand the track so I could see the waveform better. Now it can’t get here soon enough… 😉
There are also other things that are much more significant. The media re-linking is much improved, and if you’re planning on collaborating with others on a project where you’re all editing different sections of it, and then plan on combining them into one project at the end, and there are sequences being passed back and forth a lot, I can’t stress enough how much better and cleaner your workflow in CS7 is going to be, since it doesn’t duplicate the master clips that are already in your project any more…
If you want to take a look at CS6 while you wait for the next version, you can download it as a 30 day free trial either by itself or as part of Creative Cloud:

They’d be better off using Premiere, and doing this first assembly in Prelude. That way transferring it over to the editor would be much, much easier.
