A book that should be in everyone’s lighting library — especially novices — is Brian Fitt’s A-Z OF LIGHTING TERMS …. available through Focal Press.

My favorite supplier is AEROSTAR International — website: http://www.aerostar.com.
They’re at 1814 F Ave. in Sioux Falls, SD 57117-5057. Call them at: (605) 331-3500.
Be advised. This is a highly professional company that manufactures a very high quality product. It’s not a HOME DEPOT, do-it-yourself toy.

Roscolux #3204 “full blue” will boost the color temperature from tungsten at 3200 degrees Kelvin, to daylight at 5500 degrees kelvin.

I always recommend ARRI HMI lights, although several other wonderful vendors manufacture their own HMI line. Many people swear by a company aptly named 5600K.

Extolling the virtues of having KINO FLO instrumentation is a “no-brainer”.

You can NOT go wrong owning a few KINO-FLO DIVA lights …with a variety of color-balanced tubes. You’ll use them all the time; and be glad you invested in a fixture with dimming capability.
I never do any location shoots without a few Diva 200’s and 400’s available for close-up shooting. I also routinely purchase them for permanent installations.

For a bit more “punch” the Kino PARA-BEAM is quite a fixture (but a little pricey).

Contact CHIMERA and have them mail or fax you an instruction booklet. They include one when you buy a lightbank. Also get their latest catalogue. You’ll find it invaluable.

I’m in L.A. relighting the ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW.
Have any time to get together for supper ….or even a drink while I’m in your “neck of the woods”?

…and with leather gloves AND a roll of gaffer’s tape!! (Make sure it’s a FULL roll first.)
This bargain is NOT to be passed up.
The power cables may also prove useful, if they’re not the 6 foot 18-2 ungrounded extension cords, that you can buy in closeout stores for 79 cents.

    Good luck.

Ushio is actually quite a “big” brand name in lamp manufacturing….and very reputable.
