Hi Fred. I stick to colornavigator which does a fair enough job and validate with udact. Most of the time I use it as UGRA reference for prepress purposes(5800/1.8/120cd) and my 2420r as rec709 monitor(close to sRGB emulations are almost perfect despite the crappy truecolorfinder). What about you ? cheers

hmmm this is not that easy a choice… The LMD-2341W will give you better viewing angles and will probably last longer but with regard to black purity I doubt if anything in town can beat the PVM-2541 in your price range. Ofc if you can afford a bvm 250 or even a dolby reference monitor… well u know 🙂 I don’t reckon myself as an expert and I don’t want to anyhow influence you but I’ve never heard any complaints about the 2341w so far. I guess it’s a relevant point too. Let us know what you decide eventually.

I guess you’ve been very lucky. You’re the 1st user I’ve come across who received a flawless 2420… different production date probably (feb.2010 here).

The embedded deinterlacer does a very nice job at interpolating full frames from 50interlaced material (Pal576i as well as 1080i) and it does it slightly better than the 2480zx.“In my opinion the i1-display2 is not convenient for an accurate calibration. In particular not for led-backlights!”
Yes in theory you’re absolutely right! As I noted it was genuinely surprising but a very nice surprise.
I second you on the CG232W but if the point is to save some quids it does indeed make little sense. What about the LMD-2341W ?

you’d better stay away from the w2420R! LG decided to discontinue this monitor and it’s nearly impossible to get a hand on a flawless unit or prepare yourself for a long and difficult quest. I can’t say about the Planar PX2491W. While being the exact same display maybe Planar addressed the 2420 issues by means of a proprietary firmware which I very much doubt tho. Otherwise once calibrated and provided that you can live with a pink hue shift on lower corners and you disable optimus on your quadro (resolve won’t like it but the 2420R will ask for it) this is one of the best monitors I’ve been working with. I know how weird it may sound but the 2420R is a very paradoxical display indeed. Surprizingly enough I can achieve an almost perfect calibration with an i1 display2 and unmodified matrices, easily on par with what I get on my Eizo 243w! It works for me and it will probably work for you too if you really want a 2420R but you might be inspired to look into a different direction. LG should stick with only making the hardware!
