John – Thanks for your response. This would suggest the GTX 980 nVidia driver or another conflict that is causing the boot crash. Troubleshooting time for me.

Thank you for your response. My system has been upgraded and works well with all the software I use. I am running the latest version of High Sierra and will upgrade to Mojave at some point in the future. Media Composer 2018.12 freezes while booting when it starts loading the avid titler plugin. Reverting back to 2018.11 Media Composer is solid. Of course, there could be some other reason Media Composer 2018.12 freezes during the boot cycle on my computer. We would like to know if anyone is successfully using 2018.12 on their 2012 Mac Pro Towers or if others have this same problem.

    2012 Mac Pro
    2 x 3.33 GHz 6-Core
    64 Gig Ram
    High Sierra
Nvidia GTX 980 with the latest drivers
    SSD System Drive
    USB 3

I wonder how many Avid users are starting to look at DaVinci Resolve as a replacement for Avid?

    Thanks John,
I emailed support last week with some screen shots, but they have not replied. Since moving to a new IP we are also unable to connect to web client without logging into our VPN first. I’m wondering if Web Client thinks it is attached to the old IP address.

Since this change, I am also noting that CATDV freezes and the “abort” operation button appears. In order to continue we have to abort whatever CATDV is doing.

I changed from port 1099 to 8080 and still have the problem. If I close the control panel and open it back up it will revert to post 10999.

The server is actually working, but says it is not working but says “server connection failed’

We have re-run the wizard many times and tried both ports 1099 and 8080. We are 8080 as that is what the Web Client uses and it is outside our firewall.

Nothing works. Server Connection Fails. Red Dot.

November 6, 2013 at 5:41 am in reply to: CATDV and StorageDNA ?

Thanks for your reply. Having set up our entire CATDV system myself, (I’m no IT guru) I know there are some real complexities that take time, blood and dancing under a full moon to get everything cooking. From your reply I can see that this will take some time and unfortunately more money.

A side note on CATDV. We are teaching our students the wonderful world of metadata and searchable data bases. CATDV became our system of choice. We are lucky to be a hands on production program with a myriad of international capstone projects that require sound asset management. This gives them real world experience with CATDV before they graduate. As a result we have had several students get work because of their knowledge of CATDV. Now we need to find some taxpayer funds to purchase the pieces you mentioned in order teach them the beauty of tape backup and archiving.

    Pat,

We are a University with CATDV, a Facilis server and StorageDNA and an FCP Server spread across two departments. We are not working to get the FCP data moved over to CATDV and StorageDNA talking with CATDV. The advertising departments of both of these companies tell us they are a match made in heaven.
But wait… Storage DGA support tell us we need a $2400 plug in, other posts tell us we need a couple of worker nodes and the CATDV archive accessory. CATDV supports tell us they don’t have a clue about how to get CatDV to talk to StorageDNA. The sales reps tell us $7000 on top of the $35,000 investment will do the trick.

We have DNA Evolution, CATDV Enterprise with 5 workstations and 2 web clients a Facilis Terrablock No CATDV work nodes. No StorageDNA Catdv plug in. What do you suggest?

March 8, 2013 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Import Database Error

    Bryon,

You are right. To transfer a database from one CATDV server to another mysql must be the same version. Additionally, I found that the latest version of mysql installs a root password and importing any database CATDV results in a password command line error.
