With an eye focused on making great images look amazing & ensuring deliverables are to spec; I am an Online Editor, Colorist & Broadcast Technology Specialist. As an Editor, tapeless workflows are second nature. Knowing what works, what doesn’t & why ares keys to no surprises in post & on set. Growing up around high tech, I gravitated in that direction, but cutting the story is also deeply bred into my soul.
As an editorial contributor to creativecow.net, I have the attention of many post software developers, even participating in beta testing. For more years than I care to count, my opinion & input has been sought & respected by both peers & vendors.
As enamoured as I may be with technology, it is just a tool. Mentoring emerging talent has been woven into my career. One of my finest moments was to work for a large production company run by someone that I mentored in his first job. My career has not just been about me; it’s about sharing knowledge & developing new talent, be it one-on-one, on the job, on the web or in formal training seminars.
As a supervisor, I’ve led post teams & production teams, as their coach, cheerleader & quarterback.
Following a challenge with cancer, I worked for an overseas organization that uses media as a catalyst for social change. It was an amazing time of my life. I also took them through a successful rebranding. This lead to a consulting contract for a European broadcaster, where I was the lead player in the technical build & standards, as well a key in the on-air branding. International deliverables? Been there, done that on both sides.
Key skills – common sense, customer service, excellent communicator & listener, problem solver, ability to think, not just store information. team builder, understands tech, detail oriented, great editor & colourist, a teacher & mentor.
Personal interests – cars, photography, travel, meeting new people. It would be amazing to do something for a living that includes any of these interests.
