    Hi Joe,

    I think I was exporting at the wrong level before, i.e. at the project by project level. Exporting the event seems to be working nicely.

    Many Thanks

    Thanks for the comprehensive response to my query. I have tried with exporting the event to an XML from the laptop and importing it to the desktop and it seems to be working fine.

    I think previously I was exporting on a project by project basis, but now I see the keywords and changes as expected. I have a little work to organise the external assets so they are consistent between laptop / desktop, but that for now is relatively easy.

    I have also now tried removing the library and creating a new empty Library and imported my event XML from the laptop. A simple relink was all that was needed and this too appears to work. There are 4.5 hours to double check (conference), but the quick checks I’ve done seem to be ok.

    I haven’t gone back the other way just yet, but I will do so once the carbon copy clones on my laptop have finished, just in case!

    Your other suggestion about naming is a good one. I have seen similar issues in other packages where determining which “MVI_1234.MOV” you want to relink can be problematic. It’s good practice to have unique names.

    I have looked at other training materials, but the ripple training does seem to be more comprehensive so I will have a look at theirs also.

    I will update this thread if I come across any issues, but thank you once again.

  • Wow, this thread really does live on. Ok, if you want to do as you are saying, then try this. Basically, replace the “.” with “,” then add the separator as a “.”

    num = "$" + (effect("Point Control")("Point")[0].toFixed(2)).replace(".", ",").replace(/(\d)(?=(\d{3})+(?!\d))/g, "$1.");

    Hope this is what you’re after.

    Try this.

    numDecimals = 0;
    commas = true;
    dollarSign = false;
    beginCount = -0;
    endCount = 1000000000000000;
    dur = 15;
    t = time - inPoint;
    s = linear (t, 0, dur, beginCount, endCount);
    if (numDecimals) {
    s = s.toFixed(numDecimals);
    } else {
    s = '' + s;
    }

    prefix = "";
    if (s[0] == "-"){
    prefix = "-";
    s = s.substr(1);
    }
    if (commas) s = s.replace(/(\d)(?=(\d{3})+(?!\d))/g, "$1,");
    if(dollarSign) s = "$" + s;
    s;

    If what you are trying to achieve is to remove the .000, just change the variable
    numDecimals =0

    I have simplified the commas section below also.

    numDecimals = 0;
    commas = true;
    dollarSign = false;
    beginCount = -0;
    endCount = 1000000000000000;
    dur = 15;
    t = time - inPoint;
    s = linear (t, 0, dur, beginCount, endCount).toFixed(numDecimals);

    prefix = "";
    if (s[0] == "-"){
    prefix = "-";
    s = s.substr(1);
    }
    if (commas) s = s.replace(/(\d)(?=(\d{3})+(?!\d))/g, "$1,");
    if(dollarSign) s = "$" + s;
    s;

  • Glad you have it sorted. I read your original post a little too quick and missed the fact you had already had the Multicam monitor up!. I think it works a bit differently in CS6 as I don’t have to have the tracks highlighted to be in the multicam monitor.

    You didn’t say which version your were using, but in CS6 the program monitor will only ever show the selected camera. To see all the cameras in your multi-camera sequence your need to use the multi-camera monitor which is off the ‘Window’ menu item. This is a third monitor window!

    February 28, 2016 at 9:17 am in reply to: setup for multi channel audio for export to network

    Hi

    Take a look at my tutorial for Mulitchannel mastering here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkkyHCxM8Eo

    It’s about 8minutes, and for the most part it will be teaching you how to suck eggs, but towards the end is the variation that should achieve what you want with the following change in Step 4,6 &y, i.e. Mono Sibmixes and Hard panning, I’ll write the setup here in Full. Open up the mixer as this is where all he assignments will be done.

    1. Create the Following Submixes
    DialogMix
    SOTMix
    EFXMix
    MusicMix

    2. Assign your main audio tracks to the desired Submix

    3. In each submix, ensure that its assignment is the Master output channels 1&2, this will create your master stereo Mix.

    4. Now create two further MONO submixes
    NarrationSM
    SOT_and_EFXSM

    5. Create a further Stereo Submix
    MusicSM

    6. On the NarrationSM, assign it Master Channels 3&4 and PAN it hard Left

    7. On the SOT_and_EFXSM assign it to Master Channels 3&4 and PAN it hard right

    8. On the MusicSM assign it to channels 5&6

    9. Go back to your original Submixes. Expand the sends/inserts section of the mixer. You will see a horizontal black line in this view separating the Inserts from the send. We are interested in the sends towards the bottom.

    10. For the DialogMix, click on the first send and assign it to DialogSM. You will see the send amount is set to – infinity. Set this to 0db.

    11. For the SOTMix, click on the first send and assign it to EOT_and_EFXSM. You will see the send amount is set to – infinity. Set this to 0db.

    12. For the EFXMix, click on the first send and assign it to EOT_and_EFXSM. You will see the send amount is set to – infinity. Set this to 0db.

    13. For the MusicMix, click on the first send and assign it to MusicSM. You will see the send amount is set to – infinity. Set this to 0db.

    14, If the desire is that these additional channels are pre your MIX so that later on someone can re-balance etc, then on the sends you can right click and select Pre-Fader. This means that if say, you dropped out the music in a section for your stereo mix, but later on someone else wants that music, it will be there in full on channel 5&6

    Hope this help

    February 23, 2016 at 7:53 pm in reply to: Does the XL-H1 Still hold up?

    I can’t speak for Sony Vegas and codec support issues, but there are many tools out there for converting between them.

    With regards to tapes, I tend not to use tapes with my Canon XLH1 anymore, but always have them on standby. I’ve only every used Sony DV Premium tapes (MEDVM60). When I went HD, I switched from tape based XL2 to XLH1 with Samurai. The advice I always went with is to use the same brand / model of tapes and not to interchange them, so if you went say Panasonic tapes, stick with them. Not sure whether that was sound advice or not, but I never had tape issues. One thing I also never did was re-use tapes. Bars & Tone for the first 30 seconds, record then write protect. That was always my method of working. With HDV, dropouts on tape can be more of an issue because the amount of frames that could be affected by a dropout.
