Was it originally a CMYK file?
If it was, was it converted to RGB?
FCP doesn’t like CMYK. That’s a print format.
Check that, and post back if that’s not it.

Which is very similar to what you’d have to do with an Avid….if you have a stack of layers, the Avid doesn’t know which ones you want to add the edit to when you hit the Add Edit command. You have to select or deselect tracks there, too.
I don’t know how Vegas or Premiere Pro or any of the other NLE’s can tell without some sort of selection made. If you have more than one track, in ANY NLE, you have to tell it which tracks you want.

I think one of the top two would be good for you. Double check your specs, though. My G5 is older than yours, so there may be different things to consider. I’m not up on all cards for all Macs, just what I have in my corner of the world!
I’m also sure there are others out there. I like wiebetech because they are good and fast and accessible, and I’ve never had a bad experience with them. Perhaps someone else can recommend another brand or seller, and then you’ll have something to compare. Comparison shopping is almost always a good thing!

I saw a demo of it at MacWorld in January. It depends on your needs…might be worth a look.

Make your first mark, then type “+500.” and then enter and hit “mm” to make a marker and bring up the marker dialogue. Make the appropriate choices in the marker dialogue, and repeat.
You don’t need to use the quotes. Just type exactly what’s within the quotes.

Can you play back the “missing” clip in QuickTime? Can you bring the file into FCP using the import command and will it play?
I’d run Disk Warrior on that drive. It’s possible the directory got only slightly scrambled by the inadvertent unplugging.

Depends on where you are located.
I just Googled Scriptboy Wireless and got over 500 listings. Some are rental, some are to purchase. Some entries are just pdfs or webpages with reference to it.
Try that, see if there’s one near you!

If you’re using FW for source and capture at the same time, you should consider getting a card to give you another FW bus. All the ports that come standard on the Mac all go through the same internal hardware.

I use GVG, but that’s because I’m an old GVG editor and I’m more comfortable with it. I can read it like a book, so I know just by looking at it if things are wonky.
Many use the CMX EDL. It’s really a matter of preference. All of them should work, although I’ve never tried any but GVG.
