Actually I am in the United States. I do not know if I want widescreen or not. This video is actually a “photo album” I am putting together for a family reunion. I have no idea what format to put it into that would be “compatible” with the TV’s/monitors anybody will be watching it on. Which option would cause the least inconvenience for owners of the opposite technology?

Yikes! I have no clue what I want the final project aspect ratio to be. As I mentioned before, whatever my Studio version was set on was good for everything I worked on, so I never bothered to learn what the other choices were or how to navigate through this stuff.
The video I have in this project is a background visual effect video, but that was put in after this change of screen came about. When I click on the effect video’s properties, it says 1280×720. If I need to, can I reformat that with a converter?
What’s interesting is now that I have opened the project up this morning, now the first sections I have made have the screen with no black bars on the side and the last sections have the black bars.
My primary intent is to make a DVD of this video, but it would be nice if it was Youtube compatible as well.

But wouldn’t this locate all of the pics in the track to the exact same location? I need the pic to move from center to another area on the screen and each picture would need to move to a different area like a photo album page layout.

Here are the pictures you requested. I hope they are zoomed in enough. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to screen captures. The first pic is of the original size. The next pic is when I zoom out to make it smaller, where there is now this black void around the pic. I want the 2nd pic to be small and in the corner of the screen, slightly rotated rather than square to the frame.

Well.. it seems that your suggestion of playing around with the track motion did the trick… eventually. Basically I cropped the image down to what was close to the practice run, then used track motion to place it inside the Polaroid frame. I think my problem was that I was trying to do the job by using only Pan/crop (which actually worked in the trial run) or track motion. When I finally tried using the 2 tools together… VOILE! However, I could not get a perfect match, so I had to make a snapshot of the still photo in the frame and substitute it in for the one I made on GIMP. It was the longer way around, but technically not the longer way cuz I was able to solve the problem faster than trying to get the crop/tracking precision to match the original.
Thank you so much for your help! You have given me more than just a fix to this issue, but also the understanding of a tool I can now use for many more projects!
BTW, when I tried the composite child thing, when I clicked on “track motion,” it only gave me the parent motion to track. It did not put the other tracks in the window with it. I only say this because on a tutorial I watched about it, it showed on their screen in their track motion box a mini-window for the parent track, plus a mini-window for each of the 2 child tracks associated with it. Did I do something wrong, or is that only in the Pro version (which I do not have)?

This is awesome information. Thank you. I am new at using all the different effects and tools Sony has to offer, so this has actually taught me something I am glad to know. However, as I play around with your instructions, I find that the track motion simply takes the whole vid event and compacts it into the frame. Here is the whole spiel so you can better see what is entailed here.
I have taken the first frame of the vid event (which is people slow dancing), and made a screencap of it. The screencap is in the Polaroid frame just before the vid event. So basically it goes from a still image of them dancing, to them actually moving while still in the Polaroid frame. Now when I made the screencap, I had the vid zoomed in and I was able to use that same zoom-in for the moving vid the first time I put these clips together. But, like I said in my original post, I have moved the Polaroid frame on the screen. This I did by making a photo collage in GIMP and then importing it into my vid project. What I do not understand is why I was able to manipulate that zoomed-in shot into the Polaroid frame on my trial run, but cannot get it into the new Polaroid frame location (which really isn’t very far from the trial run location). I am thinking maybe I will have to try to re-do my GIMP collage to replicate the exact same location from the trial run (which is NOT gonna be an easy task, I think!) Could it be that the trial run worked because it happened to be close to the zoomed-in view’s actual location in the vid before it was moved? I am thinking maybe I should try PIP? That skill I have already learned on my own.
