Sony has a free plugin for log and capture on their site that will work for your version of Final Cut. There’s also a program called Sony XDCAM transfer that will make it playable. The only difference is this would not be a native. MXF file these programs change it to work with final cut

I am pretty sure you can do this with a plugin, I think it’s a pretty expensive plugin and I believe the company was called Hamburg Media Pro MXF to fcp7. It should let you work native.

  • I am also having jitter problems after printing to tape from fcp7 to my digibeta dvw-500 (nothing plugged into the ref of the black magic SDI decklink). When I playback my new recording from the tape, I get a steady uniform jitter problem, the image bouncing up and down like it was being shown from grindhouse film on an old projector but in a steady fashion. I am brand new to digibeta, just picked up this old deck. Is there anything like a tracking control that needs to be adjusted? (Exporting Proress 422 (HQ) SD and I am not pre striping the tape.)

Thanks, any help is very appreciated.

Not sure if this will help, but I’m doing a bunch of Ken Burns moves on a project, I’m currently downloading a free FX program at the moment to assist. It might be an easier/speedy user interface, not sure if it will help get rid of your issue though.

I have several color correction type filters on a trailer that I am trying to render this sucker and I have been getting the OUT OF MEMORY and NOT FOUND ERRORS.

I thought I would try to find the culprit by rendering clips in small sections, and for some reason it is working. In other words although I tried to render the entire trailer in one pass I would get these errors, however when rendering in sections it works just fine. I am working on a topped out MAC PRO with lots of RAM so Im not sure what was causing it, but this workaround worked for me.

  • Thanks,

I watched the video, I might shoot them an email, sounds like a lot of things I don’t need, but still looks pretty slick. I really hope they have the ability to visually search through the frames that I have markered.

In other words, if I interview a class and ask every one their name and where they were from on a 1 hour tape. I’d love to go through the tape and throw a marker down on the “my name is”, the be able to search visually through the thumbnails of all the marked spots. I’d love to have these thumbnails mixed in with the master clip thumbnails to search visually. While I’m dreaming, I’d love the ability to search all master clips, then click a button to visually expand out showing the thumbnails of all the sub clips and/or markers in that clip.

Does anyone know if something like this exists?
