Thanks, Don. It’s exactly what I’m looking for. Cavision does not sell online, so I need to order pricing info.

I have been using the Addonics eSATA Express card 34 adapter with my ’07 MBP 17″ for several months with no problem connecting a Seagate HD. However, I could not get the express card to recognize my XDCAM flash drives. Apple said I needed to replace the express card slot which I did. Now the XDCAM flash drives read fine, but the Addonics adapter is not recognized and freezes the keypad and mouse so that I have to hard boot the laptop to unmount it. Whatever driver issues there may be, Apple may also have issues with their express card hardware.

Apple support confirms that 1st generation MBPs have problems with their ExpressCard readers. Fortunately, I still have a couple of years left on my AppleCare. The bad news is every authorized service center I’ve talked to needs to keep the laptop AND the SxS card 3-5 business days for the repair (unless I’m willing to pay rush charges, of course!)

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

Thanks, Steve. Are you using the Sony ExpressCard USB card reader or a third party unit?

Thanks, Don. Sony Pro Products support returned a call saying that sodium flare from glass blowing is not intense enough to damage CMOS chips. They could not recommend a manufacturer for didymium filters, however,so the filter search continues. Dave
