Personally, I’ve found that the P2 Contents Management Software is the most reliable method that I’ve used to transfer footage from a P2 card (mounted on my Mac using my HVX200’s firewire port) to my hard drive.
Every now and again, clips I attempt to import via FCP give me the “red exclamation point of doo…” err… “the red exclaimation point of retry”.

Quite a bummer, though, overall.
Thanks for your help everyone!

But I don’t understand how that would affect the footage on a P2 card that’s been formatted and not yet connected to a computer. Does importing directly off a P2 in FCP permanently ruin an HVX’s P2 mechanism?

March 17, 2008 at 4:06 pm in reply to: Brand new HVX200 randomly started digitally garbling video footage.I connected my HVX200 to my laptop (after write protecting the cards), and placed the camera in PC mode (or whatever it’s called). The P2 cards then mounted on my desktop and I used FCP to transfer the footage to my Project folder.

I’ll look into it today. Thanks!

I’m thinking I’ll just have to send the unit back and get a replacement. Bummer.
Naturally, from now on, when I’m on a shoot with the HVX200 I’ll be living in fear that the glitch will rear it’s ugly head once again!
