This is the led light that I use…
https://cgi.ebay.com/CN-126-LED-Camera-Video-Camcorder-Hot-Shoe-Light-Lamp-/220581751636?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item335bb26b54This light takes AA batteries, Panasonic batteries or Sony L series batteries… what’s great about this is that you can actually put the small battery Sony supplies with some of their hdv cameras to good use… you know the “kit” battery! The light has a dimmer which is properly placed so your free left hand can reach up and set the dimmer. It is plenty bright for shooting talking heads and small group shots at parties… if you expect to light up a room from 20 or 25′ away then I would bring a lighting package and not the camera light. I know shooters who use a 50W light in their Frezzi or Anton Bauer camera light and you end up with way too much light on faces which means you have to iris down and then the background gets real dark. This won’t happen with an led camera light… all you want to do is brighten up the faces! These lights are cheap and fairly bullet proof… I’ve dropped mine about 6 or 7 times and it still works… except the last time I dropped it I broke the hot shoe connector! These are made of plastic… so I just pulled one from another “cheap” led camera light and I’m still using it.
It seems like the last few years, the shooting I’ve done for some local magazine shows have gone from doing nice 3-point lighting for interviews to quick standup interviews with a camera light… the small Sony L battery I use powers the light all day long! So if you buy a more expensive one that has an Anton Bauer tap and you can plug into the camera for power… you won’t have to worry about draining the battery like you would with a 25 or 50 watt tungsten camera light.

I understand what you are saying… yes, I had one big file and everything worked… but what showed up in the CS5 Media Browser where 4 big files… and it didn’t matter which one I chose to add to the bin and the timeline. My expectation was that I would have had to add each of the 4 files in sequence to get my 44 minute video… the first clip would be 12-minutes, as would the 2nd and 3rd clips and the final clip would be 8-minutes or thereabouts. But it didn’t work that way… So which way was it supposed to work… one big file… 4 big files that are the same… or 4 files in sequence?

I guess the original answer to my question is that it isn’t supposed to work this way.

You keep saying that the file is 4Gb… the file is about 13Gb… (I’m not in my office at the moment) and each one of the 4 files is numbered consecutively… but each file when put on the timeline… doesn’t matter which one I put on the timeline will play the 44 minutes of video… 4 identical files… anyway on Friday when I go to my office I will check how these files show up with ClipBrowser.

I will try with ClipBrowser, but the point is that all 4 files where the same… it didn’t matter which one I put on the timeline… the video was the complete 44 minutes… from just one clip. This was shot with the EX1R.

This camera is going to be a real eye opening game changer! However, not to be too stupid about this… I think Panasonic is missing the boat if they don’t provide a standard video style lens that has a motorized zoom and at least a 1.8 f-stop! A lot of people are going to gravitate to this camera and then they find out it is really tedious to operate the lens manually, to change lenses frequently or have to pick up the camera and move it to frame their shots… it will take longer to shoot scenes and video shooters aren’t used to working this way! No doubt, we are going to see documentaries shot with this camera where the filmmaker has to zoom manually… a throwback to 60’s style documentaries…you know a 16mm film camera with an Angenieux 12-75mm zoom that has a little pin sticking out that the camera operator can push on to zoom the lens. Oh, the kit lens doesn’t have a little pin sticking out for the purpose of doing a manual zoom … even Sony’s Z7 camera with it’s Zeiss lens has a little pin! And don’t forget, does the kit lens have proper back focus? Of course, everyone thinks that only “filmmakers” are going to buy this camera! And finally, the kit lens has a motor that operates the autofocus, well maybe a second motor could be inside the lens to operate the zoom … attached to a lanc connector… and easily operated by the filmmaker! Okay, I’ll stop being stupid now!

Thanks, I must have accidentally clicked on the “magnet” and forgot about this setting.

Right… I need the software that will play bluray! So much for using VLC or Windows Media Player! I think I have Power DVD in one of my other computers, somewhere… I’ll have to load it on this computer.
Thanks for your help.

I have a Windows system, CS3… I just installed a dvd/bluray drive/recorder in my computer, which is how I recorded the bluray disc with Encore. I also have a separate bluray disc player (Vizio), which will play the disc that I made. But, it won’t play in the bluray drive that is installed in my computer. I can open the files on the disc and click on the video file and it will play, but the disc does not launch automatically, like a dvd disc normally would do… launch in a windows media player or vlc player…without doing anything other than just put the disc in the drive.

I have the same problem. I created a bluray disc directly from CS3 to encore… no menus. The disc does not play when put in a computer… haven’t tried a bluray player yet. Probably won’t work. You mention using BlueStreak? What is BlueStreak and where can I get it?
