No, I am definitely not in the full auto mode.

  • I guess you would need a shoulder rig to truly run n gun, but if you were doing quick setups for interviews on sticks… and needed to re-frame after every question or the subject started crying and the producer wanted you to push in quickly… then you could do that with this setup and not worry about losing focus. Yes, the lens is big, but this is about the smallest 2/3″ lens you can get! I saw what AbelCine did… their adapter doubles the image size… and I am not sure why they decided that was necessary… 4/3 adapter to pl mount to AbelCine B4 optical adapter… I’m assuming they have a lens in their adapter. All you need to make the lens work is have a 4/3 to B4 adapter with a 2/3″ lens that has a built-in doubler… which doubles the image to the correct size for the 4/3 mos chip in the camera! I’m still looking forward to trying this setup with the AF100.

  • Yes, it actually works… full resolution, that was the point of the demo by showing the circle projected image plane with the 4/3 and 2/3 imagers drawn to scale.

  • If you are considering buying the AF-100 like I am… you should read this review… it may help convince you that the AF-100 is the better choice over the F3. https://www.dvuser.co.uk/content.php?CID=246

That’s pretty cool and it seems to work! Call this the EX2… half EX1 and half EX3! Anyway, I’m wondering if you could take a piece of clear plexiglass and use that as a spacer to get the viewfinder farther away from the screen? You can mask the edges off with black tape. I’ve been considering doing this myself, but haven’t gotten around to doing it. I shoot freelance for a local tv station in Philly and they have an EX3… I’ve already broken off the viewfinder eyepiece (poorly constructed on the EX3) and the rubber eye cup is always coming off, so I have to retrace my steps looking for it!

I thought that I would add a little more to this thread… the setup I did for 6ABC’s “Best of Class” was totally different because I was in a different room! So here’s a couple of pictures of the setup…
and here is the plot I originally did…

Also… the led light that I am using… Grip-LED, a light that I build myself… it turns out that at this posting the panel that I am using is not available… is “out of stock” from the supplier. Not sure that I will be able to get more! It seems that other “established” lighting companies are using this panel!

  • Hopefully… when the pendulum starts swinging back… we won’t be standing in its way… in other words, it’ll be us saying, no we don’t need all that extra stuff! A few years ago we shot local spots in Philly for CBS3 w 3 or 4-man crews. I was the 3rd man doing lighting, now most times, it’s just the camera guy w a small lighting kit and occasionally it’s a 2-man crew!
