Sure, that’s because FCP Legacy was end of life’s before 4K was in use anywhere, and it only really supports 2K frames maximum.

That’s like asking if a used car will suffice for your needs without telling us if you plan to race it, drive it to work, or put it in a museum. What codecs and frame sizes are you planning to edit?
FYI, I’d think about and 8-core late 2008 model or beyond if I were you, unless you’re just doing home videos.

Snow Leopard was the last “officially” supported version of the OS, however many users all over the world are running under every later version including El Capitan.

Neither did the execs at Sony… Not one of their attempts to create an NLE ever really took off, and many were just outright failures. Just ask Mads Nybo Jorgensen, a Cow member who paid through the nose for Sony’s worst NLE failure, the name of which now escapes me – it simply never worked properly.

Agree with you totally Mike – $1000 for Resolve Studio is an incredible bargain. And, if Blackmagic was short of funds they’d downsize their booth at NAB, which is consistently the largest there year after year.

And, you should use Adobe Premiere to create your deliverable, not FCP Legacy.

You seem to be implying that the effects and transitions that are typically installed with FCP are now missing, but that’s impossible if you did a complete reinstall of the app. You may well have used third party effects and transitions.
In the future, before reinstalling the software, try trashing preferences, as preferences often become corrupt after a crash.
