Well it is too late, I already bought the Intel Core i5 quad core 2.8GHz iMac. I’m just hoping the FireWire 800 will suit my needs.

Having thought it through though, I would take up the OWC option if it became necessary. OWC offer a warranty and I think my local Apple tech would support my Apple warranty.

It doesn’t look like the OWC installation of and eSATA port could cause any problems.

THAT was what Apple said on their website so I bought the 27″ Intel Core i5 quad core 2.8 GHz iMac.

Yet to do any HDV editing yet as I don’t have an external FireWIre HDD and the iMac won’t see my SOny HDR-FX1E camera (we think it is a firmware update needed).
