ok MPEG-DVD seems to export an mpeg with audio but I was DEFINATELY using just the mpeg2 preset before… I wonder whats changed?

thanks very much for your reply, I’ve only just returned to this thread despite thinking about this issue every day! I dont think I expected anyone to reply on this.

I have just checked and I could get away with the 9″ long or possibly just about the 9.5″ but as long as they’re not thicker than 1″. There is a ridiculous heat sink in the way which is causing all of the problems. There is also no expansion slots above the PCI-E so that instantly rules out all double slot cards as I believe its always the case that the card is on the bottom and the spare slot above it

the second one I mentioned with the 12gb ram is going to be about £1060. The first spec one was a used PC which went for £560.

I’d like to game on this PC as well but I’m sure either will play the most modern of games well.

What does the matrox help with? Would I be able to use the mini HDMI out on the GTX 460 to output at full res on an LCD TV or is that where the matrox comes in?

I really appreciate your help Jeff, its certainly helping me decide.

thanks very much again Jeff, I’ll ditch the ATI card idea and pay the double price tag for a brand new geforce system.

Jeff, hopefully you see this message soon as I have a PC finishing on ebay tonight which seems doable.. the only issue is it doesnt have a Nvidia card it has a HD5770 which apparently is not CUDA enabled.

I do not know what this means… Is this going to be a huge problem relying on the standard MPE?

It only has 6GB of ram but I’m sure I can add another 12gb afterwards. Everything else is hopefully ok…

Hi all,

well its time to edit this project now and as you all said I wish I’d had a direct feed to the projector at the time! Would have saved me hours.

I’m now just after some advice on how people fit a 4:3 powerpoint slide with a 16:9 talking head (possible to crop some of either side out as speaker is stationary) onto a finished 16:9 screen.

I’m having a nightmare and can’t decide how to lay out the two different shots on a 16:9 or convert the whole thing to 4:3.

Any advice on what you have done in the past would be fantastic.

Im not sure if the video I’m importing is 1920 or 1440 width but I film it on a sony FX1 and capture to m2t file using HDVSplit.

I then generally edit using the premiere pro cs3 HDV 50i pal preset, and export to HD Mpeg which I believed was 1920 width.

I then frameserve it to an m2v and wav using TMPGEnc and Virtualdub

it seems that HD wmv format doesnt cause any problems (yet)

Dave, when I export to SD Avi Im obviously losing quality and it looks horrid. Using the adobe media encoder in premiere I can’t see which of the settings to use that would not cause a conflict? I read one of your posts elsewhere talking about animation full quality so I selected apple animation but thats just a 90×160 pixel output or something similar.
What output settings would you recommend to keep quality? Preferably so I can import a 1920×1440 clip and just scale it down in AE.
