Any good sources were I can learn what various parameters behaviors do? Really want to get into the more intermediate and advanced stuff.

Those are very valid reasons. I was not out to criticize anyone and certainly hope that I did not come across this way as it was not my intention.

[Ann Clark] “I was told that FCP7+M5 didn’t work together so I never upgraded to M5…”

From what I remember hearing you could not send any part of your timeline from FCP 7 or any earlier version to Motion 5 with the “Send To Motion” command.

Curious as to why some are still holding on to FCP 7 and not giving FCP X and Motion 5 a try. Yes, it is different in many ways but the workflow feels so much more fluid.

Probably would choose Avid or Premiere Pro, both are cross platform. It looks like FCP X is starting to gain ground in some post houses but Avid seems to be preferred the most, just an observation.

I am probably at the bottom of the list. Not even 850 over a 6 year period.

Amazing how much has changed over the last decade in terms of technology and who is top dog in the NLE match.

I remember starting my video career (college) with analog format S-VHS then onto Betacam SP. Later when working for SMU football it was going to the digital tape format and the little Fisher Price camera (as it was called) which was a basic Panasonic camera.

Started out with linear editing, then moved into the direction of Avid and the Video Toaster. Now pretty much everything is a digital, file based format for the most part. Out comes HD and all interesting variety of stuff, seems as there is no longer a standard. How times have changed.

Thanks for the update. Ran into a brick wall trying to install Resolve and the BMD camera utility. Says that OS X 10.6 or later is required. Ugh!
