I meant to say connecting an existing iMac to a Mac Pro. I assume that is also possible. -
Very interesting. I assume you can use an iMac as a second monitor with a Mac Pro, new or current. If this is the case there are some nice possibilities and will make working with X more enjoyable. Having everything crammed onto one screen can be a bit annoying at times. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for quick reply. I just did a test by adding the BCC Film Damage filter to a single clip with no other effects applied. All settings are at their default setting, no changes made.
Currently have BCC 8 FX Plug version 8.2.0 at the moment. With the exception of LUT Utility there are no other plug-ins installed at this time.
Will try adjusting some settings over the next couple of days to see what is increasing the render time.
I noticed this in FCP 10.0.9 as well. Guessing this could be some setting I have not considered.
* Edit * I have also applied some color correction and added the BCC Film Damage, still experiencing the same render time. I applied to AVCHD footage and understand that is the not the best codec to work with. Wondering if the highly compressed nature of the format could be resulting in a longer render time. Experiencing a faster render time in other formats. Please advise if you have any further questions.

I recommend giving Resolve Lite a try. It has everything you need and then some. It is a node based color grading software so there is an initial learning curve but really not that bad.

Motion is a really solid piece of software. Should the project be something more complex you will probably want to consider After Effects as well. Expressions can be a bit intimidating but worth learning as they can save you time.I use both. Simple stuff, such as lower third, well be done in Motion and saved out for use in FCP X later. More complex stuff is when I go to After Effects, sometimes I will use both. Between the the two, you will get better plug-in support with After Effects though Motion is gaining some ground.

I am satisfied but still no “Send To Motion” option. Perhaps that will be added soon. Still a very nice update and the best part, it is free!

None taken. I think X is often not understood and considered a toy by some. I used to have that mindset but after working with it I do see potential. Complaints are few and minor on my side of the fence.
The only thing is they need to add other than tracks is the “Send To Motion” option. Given that a lower third, transition, effect and generator can be created in Motion for later use in X is a nice feature. Saves time and is very easy to do. That is a plus in my book.
Color board does not bother me as much since that part of the workflow is done inside of Resolve. Also glad to see the LUT utility available. So there are no curves or color wheel, not a major ordeal since everything gets shipped off to Resolve for that work.

Other than the missing “Send To Motion” option and color board I am rather well pleased. Glad to see a library has been added. Best part, and a surprise, was the update was free! Perhaps the next few updates will bring the village people the tools they need.
