Not quite sure if I’m answering this the right way… I’m using DV NTSC Basic 48 kHz. I believe I’m using that both for editing and exporting. The purpose of this video is for broadcast on a college cable channel and to be posted on the college website. Are these the kind of answers you were looking for?

Hi Wayne.

I’ll try to clarify. I noticed that when I export using QT, the video just seemed stretched horizontally. It looked out of proportion compared to what I had been seeing in the viewer. I did some quick math 480/720 = .6666 indicating that the vertical dimension of the picture is 2/3 of horizontal dimension, but the vertical dimension should be 3/4 of the horizontal dimension: 3/4 = .75. I can export using QT conversion, specifying a picture size of 640×480 or 768×576, both of which work out mathematically, and the picture comes out in proportion. The problem is that process can take a couple of hours for a 20 minute video. It just seems like I’m missing something. Any ideas?
