    As it turns out, there were other fundamental problems with this video footage, too, so I’ll just chalk it all up to beginner’s errors and learn from it.

  • I am SO glad that you guys set me straight on this little issue…. especially as the Helpfiles very blithely state that AECS3 is happy both accepting and exporting MP3 audiotracks.

    I absolutely know that AE is not meant to be an audio editing environment at all… but I figured surely it would let my audio “pass through unscathed”, as it were.

    Now one more noob question: Am I right in thinking that a bunch of filters and keyframes could be applied to the low-quality proxy…. And then later on the high-quality footage could be brought in in its stead, and the filter settings and filter keyframes would “do their thing” in exactly the same places? Nothing “lost in translation” ?
