  • I went with the Apple pro training series When I made the switch and supplemented with lots of videos to go over specific areas. Worked well for me to get a good understanding of the diff way of thinking.

The ripple guys are great and I would look at them as a way to go!

well, so I was hacking around and took out some footage that had been unlinked and all is well again.
Now FCPX was fine for several days with these files being unlinked but then yesterday started the beachball. So I guess something in there went south, weird.
Noah Thanks for looking into this! Sorry for the fire drill.

This is the first time in 2 years Ive had FCPX turn unresponsive (get a spinning beachball)

Nothing but footage, 2 folders to organize that footage, and then keyword collections below that.

thanks all! It was a sync clip not multi cam clip. I had several takes, video clips 1-6 and seperate audio clips 1-6. I used sync clips to make 1 stringout of the takes with the audio synched. edit that into the time line. at that point i was finding no way to track back to the original sound file, from the timeline. But right click the clip and open in timeline took me directly to the segment used and I could then match frame back to original sound file.

Oh I see!! Yes this is exactly what I wanted to do. Get back to the original sound file.
selecting the clip and choosing open in timeline, worked.

hmmm, I did the CC so that I could apply several effects to all the clips uniformly (made a defocused bar, and added a vignette)
What approach might you have used here?

Ok I made the project copy and renamed that.
Selected the compound clip in the project and in CLIP menu selected “ref new parent clip”
the CC is now NAME copy. But there is no new CC in the event. I have a smart col for CCs not in there
