If you have installed Log and Transfer Utility for Apple FCP Version 1.2, you can directly transfer the AVI files into your project. Version 1.0 will not recognize the folder, 1.2 will.

I assume the shoe adaptor is the same as the EX1-R. The metal clip comes off. You can pry it off from the end of shoe. Then you can tighten the screws and pop the metal piece back on.

If you are only missing one second of the person talking, frankly I think what is edited in the program now is preferable to the other proposed solutions. IMHO with no knowledge of what it actually looks like and no way to get to the original footage.

In run and gun situations, I use earbuds. They work well enough to reveal distortion. IMHO, I would use a limiter long before I would settle with AGC. Granted AGC circuits have improved over the years so they are not awful, but limiters have a more predictable operation.
