I tried signing up for the July 29th (which is today) but it seems that I missed it so I’m signing up for the August 11th but upon checking, it says the 12th. Do I have the date wrong? Thank you for your help!

Hello Kylee,

Thank you for your kind response. I reside in LA and I would want to do docs, TV (long form episodic and promotional), film (short and long form), and music videos. So pretty much everything.

Where do I look for Post PA or assistant editing jobs as this is where I want to start? What do you mean that they see right through it? I’ve been told networking was the upmost essential way of finding potential gigs and meeting new contacts. Is this not the case anymore?

I would like checkout Blue Collar Post Collective, it sounds interesting to me. I have not registered for EditFest LA but I would like to check it out as well.

Hi David,
Here’s our spiel on hours at our company:
Our office opens at 9am. You are welcome to come in between 9:15 – 10:00 but our official work schedule is 9:30am to 7:30PM, with an hour lunch. We like to get out of the office at a reasonable time (normally around 7:00) but of course if work needs to be completed artists are expected to stay longer. This rarely happens, but on occasion it does. If your day rate is based on a 10 hour day please be mindful of your time.

As for rate, I can’t speak to that at the moment – budget varies project to project and I’m not in a place to say that at the moment. It can definitely be a discussion once we’re ready to book though. Unfortunately, we’re still not ready to book as we’re waiting on several things from client, but I’ll let you know if I get any update.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for replying. What programs would you recommend me to start practicing on?

Also, what job would you suggest as my first job to get to my goal for film and TV episodic editing? I’ve read Eddie Hamilton’s success and I was inspired by it.
