November 19, 2013 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Boris Red 5.2 “OpenGL Context Failure” error in AdobeMediaEncoder on MACHi,
I solved in the past, with OS X upgrade to Mountain Lion as suggested by BorisFX support team.
Now, I updated OS X to 10.9 and Boris RED to 5.4 and the problem still happen… 🙁
Its very very incredible as the MAC environment was (and is) described as stable, sure, productive system… I had and have only problems as this and very poor support (from Apple, Adobe and BorisFX) instead of Windows…
I will try to contact again borisfx support, but if anyone have a suggest or solution please post it… 😉
Thank you very much
Best Regards

October 10, 2012 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Boris RED 5.x Transitions Problems (Adobe CS 5.5 – MAC OSX)Hi Peter,
Thank you very much.
I think I not have explained well, but not problem.
About your answer I checked again the compatibility matrix and I see that 5.2 version of Red is supported from Adobe premiere 5.5x on Mac, also if it’s not supported in After Effects 5.5x…
Also I tried the ColorSafe/Levels in RED preference but I have not found…So I discovered another problem also with BCC7.x because when I rendered some effects as “Spotlight” and “Drop Shadow”, the final exported clip Had a poor quality for these effects… The preview in Premiere was good!…
So I tried to “uncheck” the flag “render at maximum quality” (I have the italian version so I don’t know english name of checkbox…) in Premiere pro export window… and the rendering is correct!…But the very big problem is the Hanging of Adobe Media Encoder… So I can’t create Queues outside Premiere, but I have to use only Premiere Render engine…
You know if RED and BCC will be updated and fully support Adobe on MAC configuration?…
Thank you very much for you constant and professional availability.

July 13, 2012 at 11:58 pm in reply to: Boris Red 5.2 “OpenGL Context Failure” error in AdobeMediaEncoder on MACHi Peter.
As usually, thank you for your rapid and accurate answer.
After my first post in this forum I left a message on BorisFX site about the problem, also because i see that the affected effects are BCC7 and no the Boris Red…
I tried to download also the 7.04 update for BCC on BorisFX website, but unfortunately the update-link is connected to version 8 trial!…As always, BorisFX official support via “official form” doesn’t answer me… I solved all old problems of these plugins only by this forum!!!
So i don’t know… I will try to send a “direct” email to support@borisfx.com as you suggested…
Thank you very much….

March 4, 2012 at 10:16 pm in reply to: RED 5 Keyframe Libraries – Lost (a lot of) Presets from RED 4???…Thank you very much again!
I hope this is a good idea also for other users. Now I have to try to re-post to Boris FX support (difficulty to answer me through offical Website support form…..) two new issues about transitions application:
1) If we apply a transition in “template Mode” the shadows brightness is increased (so is impossible to use template mode)
2) If we apply some transition, as blur dissolves or similar, to an image with black background, alpha channel transparency is always applied…
This also if i use a flat “monoLayer” .JPG image and also if I set “no alpha” interpreter for source clip, both in RED general preferences and Project Settings…Best regards

February 29, 2012 at 11:10 pm in reply to: RED 5 Keyframe Libraries – Lost (a lot of) Presets from RED 4???…Hi Peter
Than kyou veri Much for your answer.
It’s very very good write a post here, because I know there will be always an answer…
So, i tried to copy RED 4 Keyframe Library in to KF Library folder under BorisFX (Library>Application Suports>BorisFX) and it works!
I had thinked that RED 4 does not work in 64 bit environment… but now I see that presets works and only the “engine” was modified…
So i’m happy, also for all projects started with old configuration and to find my favourites effects/transitions…
And yes, I seen there is new good and professional-look transitions in RED 5.1, but also if simples, i like various effect/transitions in RED 4, and a lot of these are lost in 5.1 (ripples, waves, filter-mix, and so ).
I think you have a good idea to adding the RED4 library up on your WEB Site for users download. If there are other as me they will be happy ;-)…
Thank you very much

February 26, 2012 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Good God!! Are you ever going to release Red for CS5.5 Mac?!?I discovered a strange thing just in these hours…! and if it work for you too will be a good workaround…
I don’t know if you apply the transition in “Template Mode” but I used this mode…
So if I apply the transition in Template mode, after this, also if I try to edit composition to adjust parameters the problem still happen…BUT If I apply the transition in “Advanced Mode” (the mode selection is in the lower-left area of Library window in RED), there is not the problem!!!
So, select Avanced mode -> select the transition -> click on “insert Effect” button (small white cross on red rectagle under preview in library windows) -> after that effects composition appeared on the RED timeline click on Apply in the RED main window (lower-right area).I hope this workaround works for you too, and I hope also that this bug will be fixed…

February 26, 2012 at 11:01 am in reply to: Good God!! Are you ever going to release Red for CS5.5 Mac?!?Hi,
Yes, finally i downloaded the update ;-)…
But I had a bad surprise…
I have a Big Big problem with this… in transitions section…I waited to post this because I tried before various solutions without results….
Simply the problem is a change of shadows brightness during transition!…
When I apply a Boris RED transition between 2 clips the dark areas of clips are as “illuminated”… as the contrast is reduced… with a bad visual effect at the start/end of transition (image change)Ii tried with various transitions and also tried to change various parameters on preprocessor section in RED composition but without results…
I hope that you can help me because, having waited so long, in this manner the RED 5 transitions are unusable…!!!
Best regards
