Thanks, Andy – the video did confirm that I was looking in the right place, but I opened up every possible tab in the metadata display looking for the specific data I was being asked to find, and this was the closest that was there:
(Gosh, that’s big) …and most of the parameters are blank or unaccessible (no check-boxes). (Unless I’m reading it wrong, which is always conceivable.) It’s possible that Eric was right, that the metadata was never there to begin with, based on the camera lens. Beats me!
Thank you again.

Thanks for responding so quickly, Jeff. I’ve actually been editing the first half of this project with these files, syncing them up by eye, ear, and Pluraleyes, and once I’m actually in a sequence everything’s fine. It’s just that the timecodes, which ought to match exactly, don’t (it’s clearly apparent in the Program Window overlays). I just wondered if that mysterious discrepancy between the frame rate inside and outside Premiere had anything to do with it. (You can see from this screenshot that the first frame of audio is about 40 seconds apart between the file from the Finder and the one imported into Premiere.) Again, I’m very grateful for your reply.

Thanks, Joe – I was also trying to match drop-shadow settings, and the same amount of shadow distance between FCP and PP had greatly different number values (1.5 for FCP vs. 10 for PP); and I also had to translate FCP’s “softness” of the shadow into PP’s “spread.” (I wonder why Adobe had to change the terminology, as “softness” seems very clear.) But it’s worked out! I’m very grateful for the reply.

Thanks for responding so quickly, Oliver – I will attempt an export as you suggested, but the 6K timeline came from the colorist, using DaVinci Resolve. I did not do the grading myself using Lumetri, and no further filters were used. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

Thanks to you both for responding. Let me try to clarify with some screenshots.
Regarding the first issue, here is a 42-frame gradient wipe that I’ve placed with an ending-on-cut alignment. In FCP I am able to right-click on the effect itself, copy it, and then paste a 42-frame gradient wipe onto any other video clip in the timeline. I never select the clip, just the effect. This works with any transition, audio or video, either starting on the cut, ending on it, or centered. That’s what I’m trying to do in Premiere.
For the second question, here’s a screenshot of a music clip, with nothing on the track before it:
In FCP, I am able to add a cross-fade effect, with the alignment at the end of the cut, and I will have a smooth fade in, with the duration of my choosing, without having to add any frames to the head of the music clip. I’m essentially dissolving in from silence, and the audio fades up.
With Premiere, at the beginning of a cut with nothing to its left, all I can place is an audio dissolve at the head of the clip, so if I want it to fade in like this, I have to add x number of frames and then fade that in. (And that also ties in to the “can’t I just copy and paste such a transition rather than apply a new one to every clip.”) Does this make more sense? Many thanks for your patience.

Yes, it did, which is why it was surprising that the audio method didn’t work. But the “can’t find a match” error message was consistent. But as I say, it’s all successfully multicammed now, using all the synching methods available. Thanks for continuing to respond!

Thank you for responding, Andrew. Actually I’ve been trying that method all week with no success. Most of the other two-camera segments have been easily syncing using the Audio method, but in this case, I have a 45-minute continuous take from an A and B camera, and if I just sync the two of them using waveforms, it works. As soon as I try to add the third camera (which is only used in this one scene), I get the “Could not synchronize because a match could not be found” message. So instead I’ve been creating subclips of the long take that match the C cam shots, and using the Marker method to create 3-camera multiclips. It’s worked, but it just takes a little extra effort. And I’m not complaining, because this whole multiclip-creation process is SO much easier than what I’ve had to do in the past. So all is well for now; thanks!

Hi, Jamie (and others) – thanks for responding so quickly. I had actually seen that video, but things have apparently changed in CC2015. Following the instructions of the video, I’ve created a new sequence with the “Multichannel” format and 8 channels. The tracks are all set to Mono. (This person is going to do 4 stereo outputs, and that will muddy things up for me, but I’m following along with the video so far.) I then cut the 8-track QT movie into the timeline. Then I right-clicked on the sequence and went to Modify – Audio Channels. Here’s where we started to vary. He set his to 4, I set mine to 8. Then he wanted it to be stereo, so he set the Active Channels to 2. I kept mine at 8. Here’s also where things start to differ between 2014 and 2015 – the earlier version refers to them as Audio TRACKS, and the new one calls them Audio CLIPS. Don’t know why – the terms seem to be different, but that’s what the options are now.
So I now have this as an initial setup (and I think I need the Visual Aid now):
but now the video tells me to make assignment adjustments in the Audio Track Mixer, and it’s completely new. If I click on the Track Output Channel Assignment icon over each of the 8 tracks, I get this:
I have 8 separate tracks but only have options for four pairs. I can’t seem to assign 4 to 4, or 7 to 7, etc. And I’m still not getting an 8-channel output when I try to export it:
I’m sure I’m missing something somewhere, but following that video only got me so far. THANK YOU!

This is happening to me as well (MC 8.3 on Mavericks). I’ll open Title Tool, create a title as simple as a word of text, hit Save, and it all disappears. No window to name it, nothing. When I try to close Title Tool I get the same message – “A title is currently being saved.” Well, I KNOW that one-word titles don’t take any time to save. If I choose to keep the tool open and select “File – New” — the title I was working on shows up! And ALL the save options under File are dimmed. I’ve tried Save As, I’ve changed projects, I’ve changed user names, nothing. I Cannot Create Titles. Can ANYBODY help? Thank you!

Thanks for your quick response, Glenn. I’ve tried your method without success. Here’s what I did:
I created a new bin within the project called “Relinked AMAs From Drive 1.” Then I went to the Finder (the “Explorer window” you referred to) and attempted to Option-drag the parent XDCAM folder into the bin. I got the error message “Unable to link to any clips.” So I went all the way into the folder and attempted to option-drag the individual shot folders from the CLPR folder in. And got “The file format of [the shot folder] is not supported for import.” Finally I went back a level and opt-dragged the BPAV folder into the bin. Success! All the clips from that folder showed up in the bin. However, opening each clip has presented me with the “Wrong Format” screen.
In the bin, the “Video” column has them listed as MPEG-4, and the “AMA Plug-In” column says they’re “Quicktime Plug-In.” As far as the format being “wrong” goes, the project, the sequences, and the clips are all listed as 1080p, 23.976. So I don’t understand what’s wrong about the format, since it all appears to match.
So that’s where I am now, as offline as before, but now wrongly formatted! Story of my life.
David
