Really simple dissolve questions
Hi, everyone – two basic functions that I’ve always used in FCP7 don’t seem to exist in PP CC. If I lay a dissolve (or any transition) on a clip, video or audio, I’m able in FCP to simply copy it via right-click or CMD+C and paste it on any other clip. It’s especially good for odd durations. In Premiere, if it’s not the standard duration, it doesn’t seem to work, and I’m having to add new dissolves to any new clip.
Along the same lines, in FCP and Avid, I can click on the beginning of an audio clip and choose the position of the dissolve, even if there’s just empty space adjacent to it, essentially fading in the audio. In PP, I only seem to be able to position the dissolve at the beginning or end of an audio clip, so if I want it to fade in, like in an FCP timeline, I have to extend the clip by the number of frames and then apply the dissolve at the first frame. (I do know that I can position a dissolve any way I want if there’s another clip adjacent to it – I’m just talking about audio clips with nothing on either side.)
I’m also assuming that the equivalent of Avid’s “filler” and FCP7’s “slug” is New – Black Video; is there something else somewhere? Thank you so much!
