I’ve decided to upgrade my Creative Cloud membership from Photoshop-only to the full suite. This gets me the latest version of After Effects. I’ll also check out proDAD Mercalli. Your suggestions have been very helpful. The DJI Phantom and GoPro Hero3 combo is terrific but I want rock solid video, if possible. I’m on the right path, I think, with various physical stabilization accessories and adjustments, including a Zenmuse gimbal still on backorder. But on-line posters suggest that AE’s Warp Stabilizersometimes is a helpful part of the mix.

Whoa! Your help is well above and beyond the call of forum duty! Thanks very much. $350 is much more palatable than $999. I will study the many links in which Phantom quad-copter owners have processed video through the Warp Stabilizer feature to see if it will be worth it. I’m inclined to think “yes.” Again, I really appreciate it.

Deep down in the menus I finally found it. $999 with no “upgrade” option that I easily could see. I think I will pass but thanks for your correspondence. Like lots of others, I have spent a ton of money with Adobe over the years and while I’ve agreed to pay 10 bucks a month for Photoshop (first year, then $20), I’m still pondering the wisdom (for me) of $50 per month for the whole suite. It’s a lot to pay if one only wants one feature in one other app.

Thanks very much. I was under the impression AE was exclusively part of the Creative Cloud now but, I admit, beyond Photoshop, I haven’t paid much attention to the rest of the apps — until this week.

Oh, man, am I embarrassed. Thanks for setting me straight, even though I feel quite foolish. Have had both packages for ages and never needed them until I acquired a Phantom quad-copter and wanted to use the “warp stabilizer” feature that, I believe, first became available in AE 5.5. So, I guess I’m now wondering if there is any way for me to “upgrade” from 5.0 to 5.5, now that Creative Cloud is here and Adobe doesn’t support these legacy applications. I really do appreciate your response.

Well, wouldn’t you know it? This time it worked. I double clicked the “new” clip in the Event Browser and all clips showed up in the time line, including the audio one, and all on different tracks. Apparently you have magical powers that somehow transmit through the Internet.
Double clicking a new multicam clip earlier did not work. I swear it!
HOWEVER, while the clips do show up in the right spots in the Timeline, the images don’t always appear in the Viewer when I scrub or play them, even if selected. Some do, some don’t. This undoubtedly is because I don’t yet know how to properly use the multicam feature so I’ll continue to explore.
Any suggestions for the best tutorial? And thanks, again, for responding.

FCPX is doing it’s thing as I write this. In a few moments, I’ll have the multiclip. How do you suggest I get it to the timeline? Right Click or drag?
-
I’ve tried both but with the same result. However, I’ll relaunch FCP X now and send you a screen grab.

Just the audio track (and it plays perfectly). No video. Very strange. These are the very same clips from the very same external T-Bolt drive I used to successfully complete the project without using multi cam. I’ve tried every imaginable combination of these clips; i.e. all, just a few, etc. FCPX cranks away and a “new multi clip” appears in the Event Browser. Up there, the icon is black. I open it in the timeline and only the audio is there.
Earlier, however, both audio and apparently some video tracks from one of my attempts did show up in the timeline but, again, the video ones were black. Now just the audio track appears.
Tomorrow, my plan is to try a different set of clips, to see if that’s the problem.

Yes, I discovered my mistake just after posting, admitted so in this forum and reposted in the “Techniques” one. My apologies.
