Thanks Jeremy! I feel “dopey”. I use photoshop every day at work and very used to the “red effect” which shows you your Alpha Channel. I just
didn’t make the connection! -

Great! Thanks Kevin. I was wondering today if you could do a speed change somehow in the viewer window. I’m not on my machine today, but will give it
a try in the next few days. I got 1 project for each for the next 2 weeks, so
I’ll be using it.
Thanks again.
Yep, been a broadcast editor for over 12 years,(but different programs than FCP or Avid) but as you can tell, when at
home, don’t spend enough time “learning FCP” until I actually have a project
that I have to do.D’s Video

Thanks Shane & Bret. I’ll try those suggestions.

Thanks for the responses. Sorry Rafael, but I’m new to fcp. I use an Accom Affinity at my real job.
My fcp at home I have done 1 small training video and 3 weddings. I don’t have any maintenance
software like TechTools or Diskwarrior and have not erased anything yet. So I’ve got a lot of reading
to do and evidently some house keeping/cleaning on these drives. -
Whenever I slow down a clip through the modify speed, it pushes everything
to the right of that clip down and out-of sink on the timeline. If I’ve got 3 or 4 video tracks in use, sometimes if I move just this clip way up to tracks 8 or 9 and re-modify the speed, it works fine and does not throw everything out of sink, but seems to be a “hit or miss”.

Last year, have an editor friend at the most respective “post house” in Louisville. The owners had just put a 24″ LCD in to their FCP suite to act as
the main video output monitor. The editors all hated it and said it should articfacts and all around WAS NOT acceptable for the final
“viewing” especially for a client sitting behind them. Now this was about 1 year ago, so maybe the LCD’s have improved a lot.
I have a 20 and 23″ cinema displays for my home FCP system, BUT I DON”T use them to view my final product on. It really doesnt’ work.
I’m planning on getting a small monitor or even a decent tube tv. I’m not into HD yet. -
Thanks a lot for all your helpful comments. For now, it’s time to save some money
for faster drives!
