Everytime. As you can see in the thread, I was told that it was not actually Tiger compatible. Any ideas?

Is anyone having issues with XDCAM EX being a GOP codec (a la HDV)? In the early test I did, using the native clips, dissolves required rendering, I am assuming, to rebuild the GOP frames lost in the edit. I am working on a Mac Pro 2.66 GHz quad core system, Kona 3, 12 GBs of RAM, with internal SATA storage. Throughput looked to be comparable to DV NTSC, so I was a little annoyed at the render.

How is the audio handled? Would there be any sync issues further downstream as the 23.98 video signal goes to 29.97?

I tried installing version 5.0 in Tiger, and it simply did not work form me (FCP crashed at startup). I was told that, in fact, 5.0 is Leopard only, despite AJA’s claim to the contrary. I will wait to here if that’s changed for 5.1 (they still say Tiger compatible). I do like the sound of “improved Edit to tape frame accuracy in all interlaced formats”, although I’ve not run across this issue.

I’ve seen the issue, but I usually resolve it by spinning the tape until I see the TC moving, and then go to capture. This also happens with any other deck (D-Beta, SP), FCP needs to see the TC before it can capture TC sources. If you are parked at the end of the tape, for example (like may field sources), FCP may not be able to rock back and forth and find the TC itself, requiring user input to spin back to find the TC and then capture.
Not sure if this is the case, but sometimes the VITC and LTC are mismatched, and you have to select one or the other (Usually LTC). Not sure if this is a menu item for 1400, but you’ve got those switches on D-Beta and SP decks.

That was what I suspected, but still the website claims Tiger compatibility for v5, and thus the confusion. Version 4 is still a happy place, so no lost sleep here.
