    Thanks for the reply.

I would guess that is indeed my problem. I’m not asking it to load too much media, and the drive is fast enough, but I am typically asking it to sift through my entire Avid MediaFiles folder.

To test I used Media Mover to shift everything but this project offline, and it is loading the sequences much quicker.

Thanks for the responses Michael and James.

The audio always gets passed over to a (much more experienced in this kind of thing) sound person for Pro Tooling during the finished stage so the end product isn’t going to be impacted by this change. It’s using these quick tweaks to make editorial decisions about what clips to use/avoid that I’m going to miss.

Sounds like I’ll either have to get more versatile with Pro Tools, or with reassuring clients in review that the audio will be well cleaned up.

And I’ll need to add my voice to the chorus bugging Avid to add this feature!

  • [Frank Manno] “Should I go buy a scroll wheel mouse and if I did, how do you scroll left and right with those?”

You can get scroll wheel mice where the wheel tilts left and right, though I’ve never liked those. The Mighty Mouse is delightful for the five seconds before the wheel gunks up. I’ve stuck with and been happy with a Logitech MX518 (not looking forward to trying to replace it).

As far as left-right scrolling goes, hold down shift and scrolling up/down becomes left/right.

I’m not sure if the direction is altered by the natural scrolling option in 10.7 and later.
