OK…so we did an export with only 6 tracks…and it did the same thing…It mixed all the tracks into tracks 5 and 6.

Tracks 1 through 4 were all blank, and tracks 5 and 6 were a crazy mix of everything.

We have direct out checked in every possible place…so how is it giving us something so different than what we are putting in?

We will definitely try exporting fewer channels! Good idea.

Could this be an issue with our sound card? We are using brand new Trashcan macs…the same as our online house (who had no issues)…not sure if the sound cards may differ though…

Could it be our sound card can’t process that many channels?

Yeah we tried that…There is no audio playing out of tracks 1-10.

And we are linking the 12 audio tracks to the Avid sequence via AMA, so no import problems should be happening.

So we are thinking this is definitely an export issue…for some reason Avid is mixing the tracks into 11 and 12.

Oh and yes…”Direct Out” is set in both export settings and audio settings, and all tracks are mapped correctly.

Here is something strange…when we go into audio project settings, and click the check mark for “allow 16 tracks of audio” – then exit the settings, then go back into the settings, the check mark is gone.

So something doesn’t want to allow that setting to stay…But we are still able to get 12 channel output…it is just all messed up (10 tracks blank, last 2 tracks a mix of everything).

Not sure what is causing this…

Avid Media Composer 8.1.0. Same as the online house.

And yeah we do a video mix down so all clips are DNX 115 so it passes tech eval.
